Smile Soundtrack Discussion Thread

I thought it'd be a neat idea to create a soundtrack/score discussion thread. I'm a musician, and collect a variety of film music (vinyl and CD, mp3 if it's absolutely not available in physical format).

So, post recent soundtrack purchases, discuss music, composers, concerts, etc...

James Horner is/was one of my favorite composers. His music expresses so much depth, sadness, and longing.

I wouldn't call what he did self-plagiarism, but rather his composing style and techniques. Many composers , sometimes, get obsessed with musical ideas (rhythms, harmonies, intervals,etc...), and frequently make appearances in their compositions throughout their lives.

Some of his best scores include:
  • Land Before Time
  • Braveheart
  • Titanic
  • Glory
  • Legends of the Fall
  • Avatar
  • Krull
  • Brainstorm

Great list, love Braveheart and Last of the Mohicans.

One of my favorite scores ever is from the film Perfume-The Story of a Murderer by Johnny Klimek, Reinhold Heil & Tom Tykwer. It's absolutely amazing, never tire of it.

One of the forgotten gems out there (to me, anyway) is the score of the "13th Warrior"
