School bans ‘expensive’ jackets due to ‘poverty shaming’ of students

while i've said in another thread that i wouldn't wear something that expensive...who the **** do these people think they are by telling someone their kid can't wear something given to them that may cost more than another kid's parents can afford?!

if i were to buy my kid (not that i have any) an expensive piece of clothing (or several) and someone told me my kid they couldn't wear it because it'd be "poverty shaming" to other students...i'd start buying all kinds of expensive shit and telling them to wear it whenever/wherever they want. and i'd DARE anyone to send my kid home from school for wearing it.

NO ONE is gonna tell me what my kid can or can't wear if i bought it with my own money. is it my fault that other parents don't make the same amount as me? is it my fault that other parents don't buy their kids expensive things? HELL NO! so how is it my problem that other kids might feel "poverty shamed" because my kid is wearing something expensive that their parents can't afford?

let's not work to better ourselves and our kids lives...let's shame others into coming down to our level so we're all equal money-wise and nobody is ever allowed to have nicer things than anyone else.

i swear...some people are just straight up pussies about every little thing. they want everyone else to conform to their screwed up, low-quality values instead of trying to make themselves better.

You should be used to this living IN Alabama like I do, thats basically why the public schools down here have uniforms, so everyone is basically wearing the same thing and cant be shamed about it at school... clothes are just a small fraction of a persons lives though

I've seen school kids wearing these jackets and the ONLY reason they do is to show off. "Hey, look, I have a $900 coat and you don't! Ha ha!" I don't know where they get the money (I hope the parents aren't stupid enough to buy it for them). The jackets are the ultimate status symbol and the only people who should wear them are self-important twits who have something to prove.
