It's going back, that won't be getting paid.

im guessing they miscalculated it... but i can tell them to eat dick, and clear it through customs myself and end up just paying the tax and a reasonable duty, but I've got vacation coming up and I don't have time for this nonsense. I wasn't here for the delivery attempt but man.. I don't even know where the DHL is here.. and considering I work at a rival company, and I've seen some absurd COD/Brokerage charges, nothing like this...

The easiest explanation I guess it's supposed to be a 900-1000 peso (14-15 peso/CAD) but someone wrote it as $900/1000 which I guess would still be around 25%-30% Customs/Duty. Would that be anywhere close to an expected customs fee?
I just used a duty calculator, and they would have had to put it at 1900 peso to get it to $247 .. 1000 peso would have been $130. so DHL would have put their own $100 "service fee" on top otherwise.

Adding to the earlier reports in this thread and the last couple pages of the old Sanborns thread I'm not hopeful, but maybe these reports explain why Sanborns has fallen off the board as a preferred seller after Frozen/Need For Speed/Maleficent made them a go to site.

I meant to ask earlier -- what items did you order.

I thought UPS were the useless bunch with crocked up brokerage and so called "custom duty charges". I usually avoid all couriers like the plague when international shipments are concerned but recently I ended up with a defective disc and before I could tell Amazon to use normal post, they upgrade it and who should be delivering it but UPS, of course. I wanted to wait and observe what they would quote (after purchasing several hundred blu rays I am familiar with the no custom duties part for all bluray/dvd disc parcels under 2kg and only handling charges for parcels which exceed 2kg).

Anyways this particular parcel is around 300g at best. The replacement actually costs nothing as I didn't pay for it but if I did, it would be around 10 dollars.

So UPS shows up with the parcel and they want me to cough up 10 dollars in custom duty charges (when there are none by the way). Refused the parcel, complained to Amazon and got a refund but the way these couriers try to rip customers off.

Simply terrible.

I didn't get a chance to call them but as I'm on the highway, I get an email from them, stating pretty much "yeah. we ****ed up.. we did it as US not MXN.. the new charge is $28" ... which I'm still not amused about, as $10 is their fee. and $3 in duty, which it's supposed to be duty free..

How do I put a US address here?

It seems it's coming out as Mexico country no matter what when I save. Below is the form and the * entries are defaults.

As far as I know Sanborns no longer ships out of the country. I ordered several things from them in 2014-215 with quite good results, but when I tried last year I was able to get the order through, but they never shipped and about 6 weeks later I finally got confirmation from their CSR that they don't ship to the US anymore and they refunded my payment.

I forget exactly how I go the address to match, but it took a little trial and error and I think I entered my City in 2 different boxes (Ciudad and Muncioal possibly) and state in Colonia

I'm not sure any of the Mexican retail sites ship to the US. Mixup was the last one, but their prices were always more expensive though if you were ordering a lot of titles, their shipping was close to flat rate so for 10-20 items was quite reasonable. The last I checked their site, the Media selections were pretty sparse.

I finally decided if I was going to order from Mexico again, finding someone in the forum to buy (amazon.mx, mercado, sanborns, mixup, etc) and ship me a package might be the easiest method. The same with Brazil now that the last retailer seems to have stopped shipping
