yep, ups will NOT refund lost currency. they will only refund the cost of the shipping.

they place no value on currency, only on items. and to that, they place no value on things like tickets to games or concerts. again, they would only refund the shipping costs.

i worked at a the ups store for a while and got a behind-the-scenes look at some of their practices; especially after speaking to corporate a couple times a month and talking to our driver(s) on a daily basis about different things. it's really eye-opening the things you find out about companies when you get to see inside.

Sounds to me like the bank should be able to honor the payment regardless. Nobody's cashed the draft. Sounds like paperwork is all that's holding up (or preventing?) payment.

Yeah, that's not on UPS. The bank can cancel and reissue the draft.

There's no insurance option available for currency?

Then who the hell would agree to let their life savings be put in the mail?

...they can't wire the money to a bank account?

For anybody interested it seems the bank didn't like the bad publicity they were getting and have taken care of this issue.

I'm not sure why the title is framed like this. It's no like it's on UPS to refund that amount. TD should getting all the blame. Seemed like a dumb idea to begin with, but then again they are from Cornwall, Ontario, not the brightest people there.
