PowerDVD 22 released, still no UHD Blu-ray for computers newer than 2020

PowerDVD 22 has been released today after a one-week delay, and I thought maybe CyberLink would have figured out a way to play Ultra HD Blu-ray discs on non-SGX systems. They didn't. They still admit that you cannot have an Intel processor newer than the 10th Generation. This means you still have to have a non-Apple computer made between 2016 and 2020 to play Ultra HD Blu-ray discs. They don't even market it as Ultra HD Blu-ray player software anymore, although the feature still remains for computers made within the aforementioned timeframe.

Thanks for the information. They only released the download version. I am going to wait until PowerDVD Ultra 22 retail box is released which will include software on CD-ROM.

While PowerDVD 22 Ultra retail box version with CD-ROM was officially released and added to the Amazon database on 5-12-2022. It was not until this week that Amazon got these retail boxes in stock. Amazon is currently at the time of this post the only retailer that has this new product in stock for immediate shipment. I might get my retail box version by the end of June from Amazon. Have to wait for it to arrive.

They don’t. CyberLink is the only company that ever has.

While there is more then one Blu-ray player software for Windows that supports standard Blu-ray discs up to 1080P quality, BijouMan is right, Cyberlink for several years has had exclusive software that plays 4K Blu-ray for the less then 1% of Windows 10 owners that have SGX technology on the CPU and motherboard. I wish other companies would consider making their Blu-ray software with 4K Blu-ray support.

Most non-Apple laptops made between 2016 and 2020 have used motherboards and processors capable of SGX. However, you must enable it in the UEFI or BIOS.

But since PowerDVD is a Windows software only, MAC owners are out of luck.

I said "non-Apple!" You cannot enable SGX on an Apple machine, even when running Windows.
