Default 2nd gen Mini-LED may appear on 2020 TCL 6-series

For anyone who has been waiting for a much cheaper imitation of OLED tech to hit the market, TCL is (possibly) coming to market with mini-LED TVs in its 6-series this year. It's not completely confirmed yet, though.

See digital trends article:
https://www.digitaltrends.com/home-t...dget-ces-2020/

I've been waiting to purchase a 4k TV, I think I'll wait a few months more just to see if these end up being as good as the hype.

Interesting, might think about one if I get a 4K TV.
When I read the title at first I thought it meant a mini size TV, like 10" or something

They need to up their game, the first-gen wasn't great.

They got pretty good reviews (for the price) on rtings and avsforum. Although rtings didn't think the local dimming was all that great.

Admittedly, you've probably done much more research on this than me.

From what I've seen (from reviews) the local dimming is quite weird, it's almost stair-stepping you get with aliasing. So for an OLED competitor that would be an issue.

Hopefully TCL will be able to improve through firmware updates and the next generation of models.
