Hoping someone can help me out. I just got a denon avr x2500h and I'm having a slight issue with it. Everything is hooked up correctly. I have a Samsung 4k TV with no hdr and a Samsung 4k player. For Some reason when playing movies on blu-ray, the screen will black out for a few seconds. Basically loses its signal and then comes back. It only happens once or twice back to back but it won't do it for the rest of the movie. Changed the hdmi cable going from avr to blu-ray, it will still do the same. Next step would be to change the hdmi cable from from avr to TV. Someone suggested that it could be a overheating thing also. TV stand doesn't really have good ventilation with the doors on but it's never been a problem before I got this.

Any other suggestions? Is it maybe a setting I'm unaware of?

Default FM reception

I just got a Denon 6500 to replace an Onkyo which died after 2 1/2 years, I’m still setting it up, but am having trouble with FM reception. I used the rabbit ear antenna that I had in the Onkyo, which got the NPR station on 89.5 FM pretty strongly. Three other portable radios in my house also get that station without even an antenna.
On the Denon, other FM stations come in, but not NPR. I noticed that when I jiggle the antenna connection the station comes in for a second.
I switched to the single thin 5 foot wire that comes with the receiver marked as a FM antenna. The station comes in with this antenna but sometimes drops.
Does the Denon have a weak receiver? Is the connection on back loose? Or is it some other issue?
I know I can listen to the same station via the internet, but I’d like to also get it over the air.

Thinking about picking up a Denon AVRX1500. I know it's a 2018 model, but it's currently priced to clear out unsold inventory and it's too good to pass up. Is there any reason why I shouldn't go for it over a Denon AVRS750H? It will be replacing a Yamaha RX-V679.

I got this one for the same reason. It's less expensive now than the 2019 models that are a rung lower in quality/features. FWIW I love it. I do need to set the volume around 50 (which I feel is a tad high, but apparently doesn't really matter), and the bass is a little weak. I likely need to get a subwoofer to get the most out of it's bass capabilities.

Thanks! I figured the 2018 X1500 is very similar to the 2019 S750H feature-wise, so at the current price the X1500 seems like a steal.

Setting Dynamic Range control to Low helps a great deal in making it audible at lower volumes without noticeable degradation to the audio. Medium and High tend to just mush the highs and lows up more obviously.

You do need a sub for those lower frequencies.

Thank you, I will absolutely try this tonight. I am 99% sure I have it turned off so I can use Tone Control.

I have the s750h and I almost returned it until i found out I can manually change the Audessey settings. I needed to turn the Dynamic EQ : On, then Dynamic Volume: light.

It really brought the speakers to life even better than my previous Yamaha. Although I do have to crank it to 45-50 on most streamed bluetooth. All Movies at about 50.

Still have no clue how or what kind of speakers to add to my 5.1 for the Dolby Atmos. I just have a small room.

I've found a setting hidden away to increase the volume for some inputs as well. I find it useful for Phono where I don't want add unnecessary digital stages for vinyl, otherwise I found I had to crank it up to 75 for records!

Which setting is this? I initially thought my phono wasn't working at all!

Hi all

I am new to the receiver world.

I am looking at getting the Denon X3600H and powering the following:

Klipsch R-625FA dolby atmos (left and right, and the height channels)
Klipsch RP-504C centre channel
Klipsch RP-600M bookshelf speakers

I am not planning on cranking the volume up due to living in a flat, nor will i be getting a subwoofer. Do you think this will sound good at medium volumes? Also any recommendations would be great - thank you

Also stupid question.. but I have a LG wallpaper TV that is on its own wall mount (it connects by magnets). The centre channel will be just below the tv. Can a centre channel speaker output (i know it has this REAR TRACTRIX® PORT - seems to be just for airflow??) enough bass to potentially knock my TV off the wall? Stupid question I know but i have heard subwoofers doing this!

So, have had a play with the compression settings, since there are several and can be contradictory. So here's what I've done/found for the benefit of others.

Settings > Audio > Surround Parameter:Loudness management on. Dynamic compression to Low* or Off. Auto is not recommended, I found this really mushed up a Dolby 5.1 signal.

Settings > Audyssey > Dynamic Volume: Light* gives best results without noticeable degradation in quality.

*These settings appear to be somewhat contradictory since they are doing similar things. With my main aim being to get louder, more easily discernible audio without degrading the quality, my preference is to have Dynamic Compression off and Dynamic Volume to Light. With Dynamic volume to Light there was little to no benefit in also having Dynamic Compression to Low. When I tested one on and one off and nice versa, I preferred how Dynamic Volume Light sounded.

Settings > Audyssey > Dynamic Volume needs to be done separately for each input.

Hi all

I have a LG w7 series range. It has just ARC not eARC.

Can I get Dolby true HD (lossless atmos audio) from doing the following

Denon x3600h hdmi IN to TV arc
Hdmi Oppo udp 203 to x3600h and playing 4K blurays

Or is ARC itself completely restricted to lossy Dolby digital plus. If so how different are they?
