Default Nintendo Embroiled in Controversy Over South Korean Tweets

http://www.qj.net

It seems like every other week we see a company dragged into a Twitter-based calamity. Twitter is a valuable way to stay in touch with players, but all it takes is one wrong move to cause a massive firestorm. Sometimes, like the Microsoft thing last week, it’s because one of your employees is a dick.

Sometimes it’s because they’re sloppy.

Take, for instance, Nintendo’s current Twitter controversy in South Korea. The company is under fire after its official Twitter account launched the following tirade about a South Korean news anchor:

Quote:
“She should have just stayed as a TV Meteorologist. Getting all the work done on her face like that. How come a brainless b**** like you gets the entire spotlight? Who is your sponsor? TV...sigh...”
The comment wasn’t made on Twitter itself, but via the official Nintendo Twitter account on a celebrity gossip page. Apparently whoever runs Nintendo’s Twitter account forgot to log out. Unless, of course, you ask Nintendo:

Quote:
“We've determined no employee has posted such comment on our Twitter account. We'd like to know how this ended up on our Twitter. This matter is frustrating.”
Nintendo says it’s turning the matter over to South Korea’s division of cyber-crime. And that’s your weird news of the day.
