Will they let people do 4K 60fps streams or cap to 30fps. I'd personally like to see better video compression used. I have a base PS4 and 720p video recordings are the highest you can go and uploading to YouTube via Sharefactory doesn't look the greatest but when i stream to Twitch, the video quality looks quite a bit better even in 720p on my smartphone.

I'm personally interested if Sony will continue embracing streaming and the rise of eSports.
Clock speed should be interesting. It’s 1.7 on PS4. I didn’t know it was that crap. Rumours are pointing out the clock in the PS5 will be close to 3.5

Well, the CPU in the PS4 has always been even in Pro form called out as a bottlenecking point. I think we'll get a significant boost in CPU performance but i realised quickly that once we got past single core CPUs, the GHz numbers weren't as definitive indicators of performance as they used to be in the good ol' days.

I've said it before, but PS5 will basically be more of the same but better in hopefully every way. I think Sony is just hanging their hat on fast as possible load times being the next big key area that helps them crack making large open world games with amazing draw distances and interactivity.

If anything, i have a very strong feeling RDR2 is gonna make its way to PC and be a very good indicator of what a PS5 port or patched version could look like. Knowjng what R* did in terms of sales from PS3 to PS4 GTA 5. I wonder if they can claim it technically wasn't possible to just release a patch for the PS4 version being used on PS5. Don't think that will go down well if they do try that.

I think for me, the most exciting part will finally be to play 4K with HDR and experience movies too with PS5 and hopefully an improved VR 2.0. That said, i'm hoping devs go back and tweak out a performance patch for PS4 4K/Pro games to become native 4K and actually use proper HDR instead of the fake crap Digital Foundry exposed.

Clock speeds aren't what they used to be. It's the architecture underneath and Jaguar was dated when it was picked.

The reason Sony sent out Mark Cerny to do the interview was to beat the leaks as the console is going into pre-production.

I think it's not gonna stop sites doing "Spec leaks" and trying to get those click revenues. It will however give Sony a little more room to control the spec talk towards a marketing perspective to help PS5 hype.

I honestly, i'm interested to see if they spice up the design. Maybe go black with red LEDs lol.

Which would be fine by me.

It's not like the PS4 is in dire need of a replacement anyway.

I think your guess is probably going to end up being accurate. I'm going to predict a slightly wider range and say Oct or Nov 2020.

Same here. Perfectly happy to wait, especially with VR being so great!

Well, PS4 was launched November 2014 which was perfectly fine for holiday season sales. So they're probably going for that again and the timeframe would perfectly line up with the type of tech they need to be available in mass market quantities.

I think Sony aren't in any rush with PS4 still posting strong sales and MS are happy to keep going to test waters on Xbox SAD () and reap some profit back before launching their next gen. Ever since Nintendo decide to continue with a different style of console from Wii onwards, the traditional console space for HD 4K etc. is a 2 horse race between Sony and MS. Not to say Nintendo don't want a slice, but it's a nice niche they carved out for themselves and they'll be eager to keep that going with how lucrative it is.

Back when i was young(!)

God, times gone so fast when you get to a certain age and have to life life with all those mundane responsibilities of life compared to the little bubble you live in as children. Aaah, the simpler times.

Well, maybe PS5 and VR 2.0 can cure that when i actually can pay for stuf i want unlike a child.

Iíd be fine with a fall 2020 release.

Games out & coming out are ruining my PS5 savings wallet. Also my 5 year PS+ runs out next May.

I sincerely hope PS4 cross platform titles can be patched up to PS5 level like a "cross buy" thing to let us more savvy gamers do that and others who don't care buy full price games.

Regarding VR 2.0, i hope its also gonna let us patch PS4 VR titles. I do think there's some gems to be played but i feel like there's an optimal VR experience that you need enough/correct space to enjoy all these different games in and feel interactive. VR is all about the inmersion for me so HOPEFULLY it can be used for 3D movies too because 3D on newer TVs is dead and PS VR hasn't got the horsepower to do justice imo to some of the worlds out there in VR like we see in non-VR.

I will be keeping hold of my PS4 and old Vr headset to ensure 3D playback but hopefully, it will be included.

One thing I will say, the limits of the current headset have brought about some very creative games this generation.
Also, when I was playing RE Biohazard I wasn’t thinking this should look better, I was thinking wow, this is absolutely ******* intense!

Apologies, got so much 2014 auto correct going on with phone lol. Yes, you're correct, 2013. Still, quite ingeresting to see less people complain this gens dragged on that during PS3 because of mid gen refreshes i guess and graphics being great generally.
