The Electro/Funk/Soul thread

Anyone else here have a real love for the Old-Skool electro/jazz-funk & soul tune's from the early 80's ? Think Hashim, Newcleus, Egyptian Lover, Paul Hardcastle, D-Train, Sharon Redd etc - the whole Streetsounds era.

For me, this is still the closest music to my heart. Electro is still very alive thankfully, from the dark to the downright funky. Anyone still spin the tunes from back in the day ?

Don't Stop the Rock by Freestyle is one of my favorite jams of all time. I actually have a 3 CD Electro album at home that has everything from Erasure to Planet Rock.

I'm also totally into the new Electro House movement. Dave Guetta is performing on New Year's Eve near me and I really want to go.

For sure ! I consider all electro/freestyle/electrofunk the same genre myself. Too many genre types for me lol ! For me it's all about the beats, the bass and the melodies, regardless of whether it's electro, funk or soul. Some of the best tunes have interweaved elements of all three.

I love it when a tune sends shivers down your spine. 808 & DMX beats, synth basses, heavily modulated leads - I love it all .
