Default Nintendo's Dunaway: no Wii successor 'anytime soon'

http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/25/n...-anytime-soon/

Quote:
Miyamoto may have been dropping hints about some new Nintendo hardware recently, but it looks like a true Wii successor isn't among the options in the short term. That's according to Nintendo's Cammie Dunaway, who told GameSpot during the company's just-concluded Media Summit that she doesn't see a proper Wii follow-up coming "anytime soon." She further went on to note that even though the Wii now has a larger installed based than the PS2 did at the same point in its life cycle, the Wii "still has a lot of room to grow," adding that "we'll have it [a successor] ready when we think the time is right."
not surprising, i wasn't expecting wii 2 for another 2 years anyways

That sucks. It makes sense, considering the Wii is only a few years old and this whole motion-sensing thing is in its relative infancy in the video game market...but it still sucks. I was really looking forward to a Wii with digital connectivity; I don't even care if it doesn't come in true HD like the 360 and PS3 do.

Yes!! that is really good to hear!! we don't need another Nintendo system for a long time. I bet we won't see another system from the Big N for another 5 years. the Wii virtual console needs a lot more classic games on there's a lot more Nintenso franchises to put on the Wii too.

Something tells me that they are actually planning to announce something at E3 and that they kept saying it's not going to happen in hopes of people backing down on questioning them about it.

I love my Wii, but that is disappointing. 480p just doesn't cut it nowadays.

Nintendo really needs to start embracing HD a little more otherwise they are going to quickly find themselves getting left in Sony's and Microsoft's dust.

I think HD gaming highly over rated IMO. when you play Mario Galaxy on a 720P or even a 1080P HDTV with the component cables it looks stunning. same with other games like Brawl, Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles, Dead Space Extraction,Twilight Princess etc. I think by next gen Nintendo will embrace the HD technology.
