Have narrowed my search for an HD camera to this one. anyone care to post any pro's or con's with this model.
Also am new to this so bear with me. Have researched the AVCHD thing and have my head around it. As a PC user do I need to get a speacial burner to be making Blue Ray discs? As I understand I can burn a BR disc in my pc and just play it in my PS3. Is this correct or not? This area seems to confuse me at the moment. If I use Vegas software (or something similar) is this the ideal? Thanks in advance for any response. |

We ordered a HDR SR12 for the biz... still waiting to get my hands on it, but as far as I know it's the best consumer cam out there at the moment. It's the same as the 11, just bigger hard drive. With Vegas Pro 8, you can burn in Blu Ray codec to a standard DVD and a Blu Ray player (inc PS3) will read it. It just wont fit as much data as BD media. Be sure to record only on max resolution and bit-rate. You will probably get about 30mins at 17mb/s in Full HD on a DVD-5, so it's not TOO bad, but probably worth getting a BD Drive. Be sure to check out Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 aswell as Vegas Pro 8, for a PC system.

Don't use FAT 32 formatted hard drives for editing!!!, you have a maximum file size of 4GB!!! That's only a few minutes. I use NTFS on all my drives, and it's compatible with PC and Mac, and there is no maximum file size. Once again Rohanski, when you get your camera, make sure it's on nothing but the maximum recording resolution, it should be AVCHD about 17Mb/s (or close to) and 1080x1920 resolution. Many editing systems that are available today will accept AVCHD.
