What is the typical condition of a disc? UHD discs seem really sensitive to being anything less than perfect condition if you want to play one back without freezing.

Are these for sale to *keep* or are these rental prices? I don't use Redbox but I'd be interested in some 4K discs.

Keep, rentals appear to be $2.50 a night.

if those were rental prices they wouldn't be tiered or as expensive as shown...

I've bought blurays before and havent had an issue. I picked up Inception 4K at my box and it played flawless. And u can return if it is defective.

Absolutely, if u care about special features, may not be the way to go. I can count on one hand and have fingers left over how many times ive watched the special features.

I don't care about the digital copy so much since I want to blind buy some movies but I keep forgetting all the special features are usually on the blu-ray.

For no good reason. 9 times out of 10, the bonus features will fit on the main disc anyway.

Really hoping this doesn't mean they're abandoning the UHD trials. Great to be able to rent a UHD disc for $2.50, for stuff I won't want to re-watch (although it's a pain you can check availability in boxes beforehand for UHD).

They typically only have 1 UHD disc for stocked titles as it is, so if they sell it through this, not going to be much left to rent.

Wish these were stocked around here, these would make for easy 4k upgrades.

They're available where I am. Once I finish up my upgrades to my room I will probably use them for rentals of things I want to see, but aren't interested in buying. Not sure about using them for buying. I guess that depends on the title and the general condition of the discs I see as rentals.

The lower prices pushed me over the edge. I bought 4 online and will pick them up on the way into work this morning.

Edit: I got the four discs this morning. They need to be wiped off. They have a fair number of little particles / white specs on the bottom, but they otherwise look to be in great shape. No scratches. A very small partial fingerprint on one of them. I expect after carefully wiping with a microfiber that they will play fine.

I was curious about disc damage. How are they with returns/exchanges if disc is damaged or otherwise doesn't work?

I don't know. This is the first time I've ever used Redbox for anything.

From the Redbox website:

Is 4K UHD available at a Box near me?

4K UHD discs are currently available at select locations in Austin, Colorado Springs, Des Moines, Detroit, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York City, Reno, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Spokane and Portland, Oregon. We hope to expand to more areas soon, so keep checking back.
Not sure why Chicago didn't make the cut. It's a larger market than some of the ones that have gotten it.
