I don't think they can just replace part of the panel since they'd presumably have to cut away the affected section which would probably be more trouble than just replacing the whole thing. The warranty probably won't cover it since the damage to the screen is fairly prominent. Maybe you can see if there are DIY TV screen repair videos on Youtube and maybe try to find a panel? Not sure how much it would cost to have it repaired.

Sony has rolled out its new firmware 6.1228 for the X900H/XH90 in China which includes,
Android 10 VRR ALLM No date on when UK, US etc.. will deploy. My best guess is maybe when Sony’s PS5 Console will receive it’s next firmware update which will unlock support for VRR & 8K Native Output. |

I haven’t downloaded it or updated my 900H yet.
I did look at a video on YouTube showing what happens when you select VRR from the External inputs. From what I gather, Local Dimming is greyed out as one of the TV’s features. It even shows in HDMI signal formats description that some display features will be missing with VRR. What makes the 900H so appealing (Great HDR) is its Auto Local Dimming with X-tended Dynamic Range. VRR apparently turns both off. I have heard “Rumours” that Sony is working on a VRR 2.0 slated for this Winter. |

Did some tests on the “Vertical Resolution being Cut in Half” when running the PS5 in 120hz Mode.
Turns out that is partly correct. While in-game, I noticed the X900H is displaying a full fat 2160p@120hz but when I looked at the PS5 UI, the vertical Resolution is displaying 1080p/vertical. Very strange. I’m still running the firmware that came out before VRR. I keep hearing from others & on YouTube videos about tech that X900H has this issue. Their tests are obviously done with PC or Xbox. We know Xbox has a 40GB/s CAP on bandwidth through HDMI 2.1 & PS5 has a 32GB CAP on HDMI 2.1 Bandwidth. Maybe the folks at Sony PlayStation’s 1st Party Studios have coded their way around this issue but I seriously doubt that they would go to all that trouble for 1 TV. Worth noting back in PS5’s launch, Call of Duty as well as every 120hz title I’ve tested didn’t have any issues resolving 2160/120. The only title that released that I can say for sure had 120hz issues is “Dirt 5” @ 120 on the X900H. I am curious if the bandwidth CAP on Sony’s console is causing the UI to not Display Full Fat 2160p/120hz? Last edited by Derb; 10-10-2021 at 07:18 AM. |

The X900H is a 60hz Panel & should be treated as such. Sony needs to be held accountable for lying or false advertising this TV. The first test in Vincent’s video clearly shows when in VRR, the panel is a Native 60hz Panel. |

Sony is instead hiding the fact that the TV can barely do 120hz by removing its specs from Sony.com Just recently they changed the specs on their official website for the X900H regarding, HDMI Signal Formats supported No longer will you see 3840x2160 120hz. You will only see 3840x2160 24hz, 30hz, 60hz |

![]() Heck my TVs I’ve owned going from recent to old were pretty much all Sony. ![]() All 65” except RPTV which was 60” Sony X900H Sony XBR900B + XBR850B (2014) Sony 1080p LCD (forget model #) Sony 1080p RPTV (forget model #) Sony 720p/1080i LCD (forget model #) So basically the last time I owned a TV that wasn’t Sony was sometime around 2005 when TVs we’re still trying to figure out 1080i or 1080p. |

Where it matters in the eyes of my son he cant tell the difference as hes 6 he loves the X90h. Kid thinks hes a king for having a 55" play TV lol. I dislike Samsung now a days I cant be assed to buy there equipment. LG has a great pic but the audio out of the TV is angled down and back not to the front. The Sony is the best TV on the market and ive loved every one ive bought. |

Where it falls apart is when you want a 4K/120hz image with VRR. Then it’s all downhill. For me, it’s not something I’m willing to accept as I’m a gamer & I want 2.1 features but not at the expense of half Resolution or VRR at 60hz only with no local Dimming. |
