A missed opportunity with this game is I SO wish they would've included the "Eat Slugs" spell! It would've been hilarious to run around casting that on random NPD's and watch them puke up snails! LOL!

Never mind again, I just read up on the internet and it turns out you can in a house-specific mission.
Yeah, there are evidently house-specific missions for each house that take place before
[Show spoiler]Jackdaw's Rest
. I guess it is one way to guarantee people spend more time playing the game if they have to do part of it four times to really play each mission.

The game continues to impress even on my Xbox Series S and a 1080p 15.6" screen. Cannot wait to get back to the PS5 in a few weeks and redo a lot of things on that system.

I did get another 2.7GB update on the Xbox yesterday.

I started my copy last night and I only have three options, "Fidelity Mode," then "Fidelity with Raytracing" then there's "Performance Mode," so you're saying simply "Fidelity Mode" one is the one to choose? Also, if I'm only seeing three options, methinks I don't have something set correctly on my PS5 for HDR then, right?

EDIT: JFC, you've gotta be kidding me...I think I've had my Vizio set up incorrectly the entire time I've owned my PS5.

Once thing that I found cumbersome is the slider system cumbersome since they didn't integrate the directional pad. It's kind of a pain on the create-a-character part as well as the video calibration screen which to me was honestly terrible. Game play was pretty good though, although I don't think I could ever play it with a buzz, the default setting on panning with the controller was WAY too fast for me, I might have to make some tweaks on that.

So I'm messing around with the settings on my M55Q8-H1 (2020 M8 Series) and I legit cannot get the HDMI 2.1 setting to stick so it seems to never quite "pop" or enable the extra two HDR settings on the game itself. This is also after enabling everything correctly (as far as I can tell) on my PS5.

Hmm, I'm starting to wonder if my HDMI cable isn't perhaps up to par?

Sorry to hear that. I have a recent Vizio 4K TV and it always automatically detects the HDR option for PS5 video games in the settings, but hopefully there is a way it'll stay put for your settings/preferences on your set. The 4K visuals look awesome on it, but Vizio is not the most reliable brand over time.

I think I may have figured it out, but jeez, Vizio's menu/settings system is so convoluted, it feels like you have to make multiple changes to enable HDR-gaming.

Not sure if you have a HDMI 2.1 TV.

If you do & itís a Vizio than you only have 2 HDMI 2.1 ports on the TV. If you are also using an AV receiver, that also has to be HDMI 2.1 certified.

Make sure the PS5 is connected to 1 of the HDMI 2.1 ports directly to the TV. Am not familiar with Vizio so am not sure what settings you need to alter on the TV to get 120hz.

Youíll know if you have it setup correctly if the game shows Balanced & HFR under the Performance option in-game.

72 hours in now.

I just have collectables Trophies left for Platinum. Though I know the one which is called ďCollectorís EditionĒ is bugged currently. Or PlayStation PSN isnít tracking the progress but Trophy could still pop. Am gonna leave 1 collectable until this is resolved.

I still have to do the the 3 trophies for each house you picked. Obviously got 1. Am not sure how long the quest is. You have to make a manual save before you pick your house, progress until you reach the
[Show spoiler]map area
for the first time. Rinse repeat.

Also it seems spending all talent points is the biggest grind. You need to be level 52 or 53 to have enough points to acquire all talent upgrades. Currently is the lowest on PSN with 0.1% Earned.

Am gonna try HFR Mode later today instead of Balanced. I was averaging above 80 FPS. Game looks like hot garbage in this Mode but smooth as butter.

I do and was under the impression that all the HDMI inputs were 2.1 compliant, but to your point, that *may* not be the case so I will confirm that. That being said, I would *imagine* (wink, wink) that I would have had the foresight to connected my PS5 to one of these specific ones.

Right, I keep trying to confirm all of my Vizio settings changes within the game itself via the "hoped for" additional game modes.

Only Samsung & LG TVs currently have all 4 ports HDMI 2.1

Shame. This year ainít looking better as Mediatechís Newer SOC Which will be used in 2023 models other than Samsung/LG will still be limited to 2 ports.

Odd cuz there is absolutely no mention of game specific ports on the back of the TV itself or in the documentation, but both may be outdated cuz the software (which has been a few times, but relatively recently has undergone a complete redesign) does in fact state you can enable HDMI 2.1, but who knows if it works correctly.

EDIT: OK, like a dumb ass, I unknowingly had the PS5 connected to HDMI 3 so moved it over to HDMI1 so if any of the inputs would have 2.1, it'd be that one presumably. All my settings are correct which leaves me to one final question...is the PS5-supplied cable high speed enough (8K-capable)? - it is

EDIT 2: Through some further research, as it turns out, my TV is marketed as HDMI 2.1 but isn't full bandwidth 2.1 capable of 120hZ, so apparently I'm capped at 60hZ which is lame as hell. If you're going to market is as such, it had better be which is some straight BS.

Sorry to derail the thread, now, back to the game!

How disappointing, thank you for sharing though.

In that case, skipping on this game for now. No interest in a disc that will be unplayable in a decade or so's time. I'll pick it up if they ever do a complete edition re-release, with all the content on the disc.

Warner Bros. did it for Shadow of Mordor & Dying Light, so fingers crossed this will get one too.

Oh, that really stinks if true for the US version too. When I get the disc version, I'm going to test it out without updating, and see if the game absolutely requires the patch before proceeding. If so, then I take back all my praise for WB Games as this would then be considered a broken game that requires a patch to fully play, and is inexcusable for the disc version of the game IMO.

Mass Effect Andromeda on the disc, a broken game, as without the patch, no matter what I tried, I was unable to start the first colony in order to advance to the next planet. It was a broken game. The patch fixed it, but the disc is pretty much useless due to terrible programming and an incomplete game.

Same with Fallout New Vegas on PS3. A broken game on disc that could not be completed on the evil path. It kept crashing no matter how far back I went in my saves to that point in the casino.

I'll have to see more confirmations that the game is broken from the disc version, but that doesn't sound hopeful.

Anyone here playing the disc version without updates?

Looking forward to hearing from you, though it does sound like this is the case. And I agree, it's inexcusable.

There is a glimmer of hope with all this though, the PS4 disc doesn't come out until April 4th.

https://www.amazon.com/Hogwarts-Lega.../dp/B09VYHRDG9

Hopefully, they haven't gone gold with the PS4 version yet, and can have an updated version on that disc.

It'd be unfortunate to have the worse version on disc as far as performance goes, but better that than unplayable.

Still, holding out hope for a PS5 complete edition re-release.

Thanks. Hearing about this, I may hold off a bit longer into the 39.99 range before jumping in. I have so many games that are entertaining to play now, that there's no urgency for any one game at this point.

But I'll definitely update here when I finally get HogLeg PS5 disc version.

Thanks for mentioning it linked to the earlier post about it. I agree, no excuse for this kind of thing on a disc. The disc should contain the entire, complete-able video game intact and unbroken.

Unlike the disaster that awaits anyone playing Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt Red on the PS4 disc version. I wonder if they ever updated that with newer prints of the disc, or if that abomination still exists on the discs being sold today. It was the worst downgrade I've ever seen in my life for advertised graphics to actual graphics on the disc without updates.

I do eventually get around to updating most of my games, but I also like the idea that if I like the game and don't want to update it, I can decline the update prompts that affect save files. That message that appears after updating "This uses a newer update version of the game. Please re-update your game to access your save file" kind of scenario.

Think it's the same one sadly. Really surprised they haven't put out a PS5 disc for Cyberpunk yet. Maybe once the Phantom Liberty DLC comes out, they'll do a complete edition.

CD Projekt Red just did one for the Witcher 3.

(Though ironically, the PS4 complete edition may play better, since the initial PS5 patch for the game was buggy)

Yes, the whole situation had a rough start a bad first year mostly.

With Days Gone on PS4, that was complete-able from only the disc without any updates despite the graphical and frame rate issues, even though the textures often didn't load in at all during cutscenes and some areas after returning from rest mode. Playing it on PS5 with the update though, much better, but still playable from the disc as a last resort.

Fallout 3 (PS3) and 4 (PS4) were both fully completed without a single update, though Fallout 3 on PS3 suffered crashes and glitches often.

That aside, good to hear this game is mostly getting great feedback otherwise. It looks generally fun and I'm looking forward to exploring the wilderness.

Not sure if you're aware, but Days Gone got a stealth reprint, with a more updated version on the disc.

Unfortunately, it's difficult to tell which version you have.

I got Fallout 4 on PS4, though I've only ever played a patched version. Nice to hear it'll still work without any patches though. (I usually play patched versions myself, but on principle, I still refuse to buy any bad discs, as I know servers will be down one day, and Ill still have my discs. I still revisit PS2 games often, and hope to do the same with the PS4 library, especially with how massive it is.)

Marvel's The Avengers had a similar thing happen to it. The PS4 disc would not play without an update, but the PS5 disc later released had an updated version that was fully playable off the disc.

And yes, Hogwarts looks really fun. Fingers crossed the disc situation gets improved in the future.
