SHARP: Share Your Custom Display Settings

This thread is intended for members to share their custom picture settings for all SHARP model TV's.


To help make life easier for others...please try to include (but not limited to):

TV Model Number?
Weather it's an ISF Calibrated setting or Disc calibrated setting?
What Input Connection this setting is used for? (ex. HDMI, Component, Composite etc)
What device is connected? (dvd player, bluray player, cable tv ..etc)
What kind of room lighting you have? (dark, dim, bright etc)
Any key features that are turned on or that should be turned off?


Additional Info: *Calibrate Your HDTV*

*Please do not criticize settings being shared...it is a courtesy to those who cannot afford an ISF calibration or do not own a calibration dvd.

*Please also keep in mind that using someone else's settings may look good but it does not necessarily mean it will be ideal for your viewing pleasure and may require some tweaking.

*It is also NOT recommended for anyone to go into the Service Menu to make any adjustments.

Interesting to see that my settings are very different from either of your settings. I tweaked mine by eye and love the results. Seems like both of you like to go in the negatives with the backlight, I keep mine on 0 (STD) and neither of you like to use the brightness while I do.

this one isnt bad. i tried them,, just tuned a few things around.

Calibrated in a semi dark room using Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest

AV: Standard Mode
Color Temp: Middle
Active Contrast: On
Fine Motion: On
OPC: Off

Backlight: 0 (I've played with this but because of the low brightness setting I decided to leave it at 0)
Contrast:32 (This seems to be the magic number, I confirmed with Ratatouille's calibration program)
Brightness: 2 (This seems to be the magic number, I confirmed with Ratatouille's calibration program, I initially thought it was too low but after setting the backlight to zero it seemed to be perfect)
Color:10 (I think this is really personal preference on how natural you want the colors to look. I tend to like a bit more saturation)
Tint: 5 (again personal preference but I didn't want too much redness in the skin tone so I set it at 5 or 6)
Sharpness: 3 (I know most people advocate setting it to zero or lower but I just felt that going any lower than zero made the picture too soft. 3 seemed to be perfect to where there was just enough sharpness but not enough to enhance the graininess in films.

hi there,

I have a sharp aquos LC-46X20E. all is set to default and I d like to boost at the maximum PQ for blu ray.
I know discs like "HD basics" or else exist but I am not in the mood to import this... I know there is a thread "calibrate your hdtv" and I tried to do it myself, but I am not convinced ... maybe I just don t get it with english too? lol

if someone has the same TV, could this someone tell me his settings? replying this thread or PMing me

Used a Calibration website's settings (forget which site, but got the link on this board). I have the HQV calibration disc, but I found it to be of little help (no explanation of how to fix poor tests):

Brightness: -15

Sharpness: -5

Black: Off (was told that having it on is overkill with 1080i/p)

On your remote there is a little door at the bottom, open it up and press the "AV MODE" button...it will cycle through the 7 available modes.
