Default What is IronPack™? The Comprehensive Guide

I thought I would start this thread, in order to clarify the differences between IronPack's and Steelbook's. Since many people have asked this question. So without further ado.

The major differences between IronPack's and Steelbook's are as followed:

(1) IP Spine is made of Metal / SB Spine is made of plastic
(2) IP Spine looks very different than SB. It is not as tall a SB but is wider.
(3) IP blu-ray disc holders are different. Most find the SB holders difficult to use in order to remove the disc. Whereas IP holders seem much easier to remove discs.
(4) The case clasp is designed very differently. Seems to open easier with IP. Sometimes a little too easily.
(5) Some people find the material used on IP are not of the same quality as SB. Some people have discovered that IP are more easily scratch-able, dent-able, etc ... Personally I have not found this to be true, but have not done rigorous testing.
(6) IP weigh more than SB, most likely due to their metal spine.

IMAGE COMPARISON

The first IronPack (Terminator Salvation) which came out, had a spine alignment issue. But this was later fixed on subsequent releases:

Here is someone else's spine comparison of Harry Potter. SB vs IP. See how they fixed the alignment issue:

I would easily buy an Iron Pack based on those comparisons alone. In fact I would have just as easily gotten an Iron pack for those 2 specifically. And maybe even Sherlock holmes.

Very little difference IMO, certainly nothing worth being upset about.

Some of the two-disc Ironpack's also have a different type of disc holder (i.e. Avatar and Independence Day):

In my Ice Age Ironpak the Bottom Disc holds secure if you push it right in. The top Disc flips out of the holder sometimes but maybe i haven't figured out the right way to place it in there.

It looks like a hybrid Metal Box/Ironpack has started to appear. Take a look at the last few posts:
