Just soooo damn pricey for something like this.
To be honest I'd be surprised if we ever get a better version than this one, sure it's 'bare bones' (especially if you don't speak German) but the transfer looks very good in motion and I was more than happy with it.
Releases like this should be supported, because if we get snotty about them they'll stop happening altogether let alone have alternate versions released by other companies.
I for one am grateful that Explosive put the time, money and effort into putting out what on the face of it is a very risky proposition for restoration, but if they don't recoup their costs they'll stop doing things like this and we'll all be worse off.

I think with ARROW releasing a few police movies people tend to forget that this genre is still a niche within a niche. The reason FilmART / CO / Explosive etc don't do monthly releases like the big boys is that these movies are not viable to release if this is your full-time job.

Granted, we were blessed in the last 2-3 years with the amount of eurocrime hitting HD but even the most high-profile ones don't sell nearly as good as some cheap giallo (i don't know if FilmArt or CO said in an interview yeras ago).

It's a labor of love for those small labels and while criticism is legitimate, please keep in mind the nature of movies we are talking about here. I certainly never expected stuff like "Cry for a prostitute", "Redneck" or "The new Godfathers" make any release other than VHS.

you already got some good advice but I dont think anyone mentioned Milano calibro 9, by fernando di leo, whos one of the main directors of the genre. Its a gritty, harsh movie with a fantastic score by Osanna and bacalov

It has one of the greatest openings Ive seen, and tarantino IIRC called it the greatest italian noir of all time.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v91iVq3S9n0

the music has a clear tango influence, whcih is understandable because of bacalov
Agree, highly recommend Di Leo flicks
MILANO CALIBRO 9 is a masterpiece, even outside of its own genre

Thanks for the replies guys. It's still up in the air for my purchase on Tony Arzenta. Very tough as I would like to see this in HD.

Ive placed a pre-order for Thriller through Vinegar Syndrome for $50 which will include 4 discs packed with extras (2 4K 2 BD 50s) Tony Arzenta will be $38 shipped for just a HD and trailer I think......ugh! Very tough =(

Yeah, but it's a limited edition mediabook and when it goes OOP, you'll be paying a lot more for it on Ebay.

Does anyone have any idea if Raro are actually releasing La Legge Violenta Della Squadra Anticrimine and La Polizia Sta a Guardare they announced about two years ago? This doesn't bode well for them. Did they go bust? It looks like Raro are following the Dorado route.

As far as I can tell, Raro initiates a pre-order on their site and then waits for a certain minimum to be filled before placing an order with the replicator.

Due to the fact that they are a super small label that releases very niche films, it simply takes as long as it takes until they meet their minimum threshold for printing up the discs (keep in mind that many replicators require a minimum run of 1000 discs).

Unfortunately, Raro doesn't tell us how close they are to meeting their minimum. One day the disc simply shows up as in stock on their site and people who pre-ordered get their disc in the mail.

Regarding Arrow's soon to be released Rogue Cops And Racketeers: Two Crime Thrillers From Enzo G. Castellari boxset, is it known already if the UK edition is fully uncut?

Considering the amount of Italian genre efforts that get cut in the UK, I just want to be sure, before I get the UK version.

thank you

According to DVDCompare, the US and UK releases are identical, and uncut.

Thank you.

I also heard from Arrow on one of their social media channels, and they told me the UK set is fully uncut, so I just placed an order with them.

U.K. release of High Crime is due out in June :

Quite encouraging that Studiocanal are releasing it - hoping they release Weapons of Death and The Counsellor like they did in France. Seems to be part of a range labelled as Cult Classics.

Worth noting though that it may well be the shorter 93 minute version (same as SC released in France). Amazon state 93 minutes, and that's the version SC submitted to the BBFC.

Dorado Films has the US rights.

The version currently on Tubi has their logo.

I just ordered from Diabolik DVD Film Artís High Crime Germany Blu-ray last week. If the UK Blu-ray ends up not being cut, I might order that one because of its extras.

I thought Dorado Films gone out of business and had lost all of their licenses? Either way, if they do have the rights to this, pretty bad news overall.
