It's never too late to join in. The world of tokusatsu is vast, there is just so much out there and the US only has a small fraction available. I can't help but to keep wanting more. I know Discotek taking on Kamen Rider and Metal Hero is already a large, daunting task, but I'd like to see them slip in other stuff occasionally too. A show from Shochiku or Senkohsa or P Productions. Toho would be a miracle, it's 2023 and we still don't have Zone Fighter in the states. It's wrong.

With the increased output lately, just how is everyone consuming them? I do monthly marathons about three or four times a year now in between all of the other stuff I watch. I'm only about half-way through Mill Creek's Ultraman releases (Gaia is next on the schedule). I'm not planning to watch the recent Sentai sets until I finish Ultraman, and I'm holding off starting Kamen Rider until the first series is released to disc. I haven't decided when I'll watch Gavan.

Are you referring to Reiwa The First Generation or the V-Cinemas? It does baffle me how Reiwa The 1st wasn’t included. I presume it would be included with ZIO…….. if we ever get it. ( Personally I feel we will never get any of the V-cinemas ( looks at super sentai). Shout could have released the v-cinemas on Tokushoutsu, but I feel something has happened to where they don’t have streaming rights to newer series anymore. I’m curious when their Sentai streaming rights expire. Will be interesting

Also, I saw this thread in the new section and thought “maybe Shout announced Kamen Rider OG Blu-ray early” or some company announced more Toku…. Nope. Lol. Meanwhile Netflix Vietnam has SABER with English Subs. I think we will probably get OG Blu-ray from Shout Factory next in September/October

Good news for you is. All the Sentai that became the original power rangers to SPD are on dvd, including two pre-zyu. Downside is, no movies and v-cinemas. I’m still stuck in the middle of Jetman

Yeah I think it was the reiwa movie. I saw it was after ep 8 or 9 of zero and saw it was important so I skippee my blu ray set for now. Although if its not part of zero and its part of zio then I suppose there is a chance for a release here.

Yeah it was Reiwa The 1st……… well, we say that but Heisei Generations Forever was on the first few streaming releases by Shout back in 2020 and we still don’t have ZIO. We also don’t have the Zero One V-cinemas. Shout has actually been extremely slow with new KR content. We got Ryuki and 01 back in 2021. The newest thing we got since then is the Ryuki movie but that was it. I wouldn’t place too much hope in Shout Factory. We will probably get the OG Blu-ray next from them presuming Discotek didn’t get the physical rights

Generation Kikaida has announced that they are closing their online store in June. I don't know if they will still sell their titles through Amazon or not.

I've been planning to fork down $400 to buy all of their toku releases but things didn't work out. At this point, I may as well wait and see if another label does Blu-ray releases.

For the shows I’m watching by myself, I typically watch 2 episodes a night, and I’ve started alternating between discs of different series. I was going back and forth between Ultraman 80 and The Ultraman a few weeks ago, and when I was nearing the end of the anime, I switched between that and Mega Monster Battle. So far this year, I’ve finished Ultraseven X, Ultraman 80, The Ultraman, and the first Mega Monster Battle (and maybe Gavan? Can’t remember if that was late last year). Kamen Rider Black is probably up next, once I finish the second Ultra Galaxy series and maybe the Zero movies/specials.

For the series I watch with my wife — just Zero One and a couple discs of Kuuga so far — it’s one episode a night and more sporadic.

It can be daunting! I hate having a backlog, and I was so focused on Showa-era BDs of Ultraman that I shrugged off the DVDs and later BDs till now. So now I have an unfathomable amount of material staring me down, plus everything that’s coming out that I still feel compelled to get.

The hit-to-miss ratio has been spectacular so far. Taro had me thinking “I don’t know if I can do 50 episodes of this” at first blush, but it didn’t take long for me to warm up to it somewhat. The only series I’ve given up on is Juspion. But maybe after digging Gavan so much, I’ll like it more on a third attempt.

Holy crap. I never would have known this without your post. Just ordered the remaining sets I never owned. Thank you for the head's up.

For the most part Toei licenses all their series and movies individually. While Shout seems to be getting the main summer movies to bundle in with the Heisei & Reiwa series, but I assume any crossover movies and other specials would be released on their own if ever. Shout licensing Heisei Generations Forever doesn’t mean they have the license to Zi-O, and then licensing Zero-One doesn’t mean they have the license to Reiwa The First Generation, they’re all seperate licenses.

They are never getting released on their own physically. It would be a huge waste of money for Shout. I can see a movie bundle. but if they release Heisei Generations Forever by itself and for $25 or so. Who would actually buy it? Why buy a movie to a season you can’t legally watch?

Slight update on the Kamen Rider movies from Media Blasters (about 5 minutes in), seems he'll get to them after the live-action Doomed Megalopolis movies.

Too late for Inazuman, eh.

I picked up Kamen Rider Kuuga though. (looking around this sort of material, Shin Godzilla is on sale...)

I've got a suspicion that someone else is picking up the licenses. I always figured that would happen if they stopped selling any of their titles. KMV3 and Kikaida would be up Discotek's alley, and they might get Inazumam too.

Just have to wait and see.

Yeah I can see Discotek getting V3. While it makes sense for Shout to get v3 considering they have the original, the only thing we are probably getting from Shout this year that’s KR wise is a release of the original (that’s not even a guarantee) and it won’t be the 4k Release Japan is getting. That and we don’t know what Shout’s Toku plans actually are. I’m predicting next week we will hear about a new Sentai but it may just end up being a retail wide release of Dekaranger for June. On the KR front……. Well all we got is the original left for them to release

Those discs came with their own extras right? I only have the Kikaider Reboot DVD and was considering getting the V3 set in May but since the Amazon store is closing before that...

I wonder if Discotek would get them if they get the shows.
