Warner Bros They Shall Not Grow Old (2018) No 3D Blu-ray

Moderator note: Though the film was converted to 3D and released that way in cinemas, it has so far only been released flat on disc. There has been no 3D Blu-ray release of this film anywhere in the world and sadly there is no indication that there ever will be one.

Original post:
Peter Jackson has made a 3D colorized documentary comprised of real World War 1 footage. The link to the story is here:

That's not the same movie. It's from 2015.

Hopefully this will make it to 3D blu ray... sadly, most of the news reports about this failed to even mention 3D, just talking about how the old footage was made sharper when it's the 3D that's really going to bring this bit of history alive.

That Tony Robinson WWW1 series is brilliant. It focuses on stereocards from the era, and the 3-D throughout is remarkable. I'm sure Jackson's new series will be next-level, though. Actual footage in 3-D and colourized! Count me in.

Joe, I heard that this disc only worked with active shutter glasses. Can you or anyone else shed any light on this?

I have the disc and have viewed it on a passive system and can assure you this is not the case.

Hi interdimensional,

Though Amazon lists it as all region, all other vendors carry region B only. Is yours all region?

Thanks.

Hey Joe 3D,

I have the UK version of Tony Robinson's World War I in 3D. It is Region-Free. I just checked it myself (Paul H had already confirmed this here: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/World...lu-ray/114338/ ). The disc itself and the back cover says Region B, as does AmazonUK, but that is not correct.

It's currently available on AmazonUK from a third party seller that ships to the US (CannyStore-com, $22.70 shipped).

Thanks Kurosawa. That price is cheaper than amazon U.S ! But ordering overseas means expensive return shipping if something is wrong and that makes me nervous. Everybody else lists it as region 2 and PAL. At least Amazon u.s.states region free so I would have some sort of protection should there actually be two versions.

Saw this (Peter Jackson)on the news the yesterday, and the 'after' footage looked amazing in 2D, should be eye popping in 3D.

The seller I mentioned is "fulfilled by Amazon" so their return/refund policy is covered by AmazonUK which should be fairly painless (i.e. no cost to you). But, I understand your hesitancy with regards to your experience with Zavvi.

Hi Kurosawa,

Zavvi. Just the thought of them makes me shake!

But because the description specifies region b, I would have no recourse just in case there was an error, printing on the box and disc region B on certain all region editions (if there are two versions out there) that you and Paul just happen to have.

Not a conspiratorial type. Just a nervous Nellie. .

Hi guys,

Ordered the Tony Robinson disc. Ordering it through Amazon US was a few dollars more but his was the only that stated all region. Everyone else specified region B so just wanted to play it safe. Blu-ray.com could have been referring to one of two editions made available.

Kurosawa. I think the version you saw was a dvd-r made on demand and not 3D. Maybe that's why it was so low, even compared to other United kingdom vendors? Thanx for trying to help me a few dollars my friend!

Hi interdimensional,

Thanks buddy for alerting us about this. Though the war was a tragedy of human carnage brought on by Western aristocrats, this looks like it is going to be fantastic film. Sharp, hopefully natural colorized and of course, in 3D!

https://deadline.com/2018/08/peter-j...ry-1202449011/

Do hope it will be released on Blu-ray and for region A. If not, then a major let down for us all!
