Default Anohana - Blu-ray release in January

I see that Anohana is getting a new Blu-ray release in the UK on January 27th 2020 -

https://www.anime-on-line.com/xcart/...at=2653&page=1

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07ZTTCVNR/

Does anyone have any details on this?

I see it's an MVM release, are they any good?

MVM Entertainment is great. I have some of their releases like Desert Punk and it was well worth it, it featured the original Japanese text than English translated.

There's three different releases of Anohana TV; NISA (on which this release is probably not based), Aniplex of America (the best one) and a pretty decent Australian release. I've axed MVM on twitter, and sometimes they know in advance what kinda quality we'll get on their Blu-rays.

Ergo Proxy is another quality product release from them too.

They used to make collector's boxsets with individual DVD cases inside, but now they just release in standard cases with 3-5 discs or use fat cases.

I'd show you how the packaging is, but can't find a single photo on the web... Ah! Found it. Here's the packaging of Ergo Proxy (same style as DP).

Thanks, another one to add to my growing list of anime to watch on CR/Funimation and/or buy.

I have the NISA release; how is the AoA release better? Just curious.

NISA is a Justin Sevakis encoded disc so it's perfectly fine. AoA is a 1:1 clone of the Japanese BD so the only advantage other than a dub is higher bitrates. I'd stick with the NISA if you don't care about dubs like me.

Are you sure he had the gamma issue solved back then?

Even if he didn't, the brightness setting shouldn't be too noticeable. I mean, at least for me, it's not distracting unless put side by side.

Judging by the screenshots (by themselves with no comparison to the JP BD/AoA) nothing appears to be elevated to a degree where it's noticeable. If it is incorrect, I doubt one could notice unless side by side.

Hmm, I guess I'll have to take a look at my set, I haven't watched it yet. I'm quite sensitive to gamma/brightness issues.

Colors are virtually the same between the two. The most noticeable difference is the presence of tramlines in the NISA/Hanabee BD.
