Damn, I hope these movies do justice to the story more than the show did.

I'm watching it via streaming and you're not missing much. It's definitely Gundam By Numbers. That being said, I see no point in waiting for the release if you have Hulu or Funimation, as you can enjoy it in it's entirety on those services.

For anyone not aware (because I only came across this yesterday) Fathom Events will screen Char's Counterattack in various theaters on December 5th. I'm definitely going to that. For me, it's gonna be at the same theater that screened Narrative which is just down the street and a 4 minute drive. Narrative had a good turnout at my showing and I'm hoping the same crowd comes out for this one.

No. All Gundam series are hand drawn. You mean, done on cels, right? Turn A was the last one done in cels and shot in film.

I have 1080p rips from the Japanese Blu-rays and they look great. Not quite as good as that video because that's a first generation textless opening and the openings were typically done at a higher quality back then (35mm?) seeing as they were gonna be used over and over. The actual openings used on the episodes are a tad softer because with the text it's a generation away from the textless opening. The episodes themselves are a revelation over the DVD transfers though and I'm looking forward to purchasing the Nozomi Blu-rays.

I'm about to begin my descent into the anus-breaking madness that is Mobile Fighter G Gundam. I will share my thoughts after I complete the first volume.

I will be getting the OG Gundam Movie Trilogy Blu-ray re-release by Bandai, but I think they should do some work looking over things first.

[Show spoiler]

And yes, the Zeta Torilgy has the same issue too

The current Torilogy Blu-ray on sale at RS is good but missing the original soundtrack right (the one that WAS on the UK and French releases)?

Yup. The Rightstuf release only has the 5.1 remix which has all the acting re-recorded by the Seiyuu still alive, new music cues, and the thing I hate the most- brand new sound effects.

The UK/FR release has the original mono audio track, though.

Will the Bandai one?
