I actually just got into HXH and this is exciting news. The wait between seasons is going to be pretty rough. Hopefully they will eventually leases larger sets further into the release schedule.

I just started watching Hunter x Hunter on Toonami this weekend. Really love this show. It's an adventure series done the right way. I can't wait until Viz starts putting out the blu ray sets. Fantasy stories with action/adventure is exactly what got me into anime in the first place nearly 20 years ago.

Yea, I'm looking forward to this and a release of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Just rewatched JoJo on Crunchyroll and it was really fun

Darn, I was hoping when it came out it would be ahead of where it was on TV like Attack on Titan. Doesn't look like that'll be happening. Ooooooh well.

Shame the DVDs for the older series are long OOP and are going for quite a bit thanks to scalpers. Also VIZ never licensed the OVAs for those.

Late 2016 is now Fall 2016. We're getting there, slowly but steadily.

Just for clarification: Is Viz releasing both the original and the newer version of this show on BD, or just the 2011 series?

Just 2011. The original went OOP years ago, and presumably had low sales, which is why they never got the OVAs. Also the original doesn't have a Blu-ray release in Japan to my knowledge.

I posted this in the Official Anime Release thread, but I figured it should be posted here as well.

I was uhhh hoping for some nicer sets, especially at that price point/division of episodes.

I was hoping for something more in line with the Ranma sets.

Didn't the original HxH Series on DVD not sell too well for Viz? Maybe this time they are being more careful with their release. And put low exceptions with this release with just a standard release. To ensure it sells and not have to cut the release short :P

Those releases went OOP relatively quick and they never got the OVAs, yeah.

Sounds like Viz is taking a big risk with this one, I hope it works out well for them.
