The subs for the second film were commissioned for a screening in Paris. Subs for the first film were made for the Blu-ray box.

I wonder if they're going to fix the translation error in the scene where a certain character from a different Macross series makes a cameo appearance.

^ Agreed. It's already been a whole entire year since the Big West/Harmony Gold-rapprochement deal first got announced. You'd think we'd have gotten a distributor/label-announcement for potential Blu-Rays (and/or streaming) by now at the very least, here.

We're still rather early in the collaboration deal, and Crunchyroll/Funimation has just wrapped up the merger. I'm not saying they'll be the ones to release the remaining Macross stuff, but Sony did have a hand in HG and Studio Nue shaking hands.

If we get any home video news, it wouldn't be done this early in the year.

They did for Robotech. Now, whether they'll commit to the Macross side of things, we'll have to see.

I'm still curious if the two ip's will be kept separate or if they're going to be translated as one product. Shout had to subtitle the Japanese Transformers series with the American names, so will Macross have to use the Robotech names in their translations?

The merch we're seeing is largely co-branded as Robotech/Macross, while stuff for the other shows that comprise the franchise is primarily branded as Robotech with an occasional reference to the original Japanese shows, so I think there are some legalities at play, due to the long-running dispute over Macross ownership in Japan. That being said, I have no idea what will happen regarding the translations, but I can't see it happening like Transformers did, simply because Robotech is such a different thing.

I feel like this may have been pointed out already but the 40th anniversary of OG Macross first airing is on October 3rd of this year so maybe if Macross is going to come to Blu Ray then later this year would be a great time for it to start happening.

Or perhaps BV could re-release the series with English subs. I’d happily import the JP release again if they did.

This is what I'm gonna do, since I can't afford to lose my work shifts for those dates:

I'll be watching these movies on the day of their theatrical release, from the blu-ray that I got years back (which I haven't popped open before). It won't be the same experience as I won't be able to see the messages from the seiyuu, but it's as close to an experience as I'm gonna get under circumstances.

I'm hoping Big West's upcoming AX panel has something on Blu-ray/streaming plans for overseas, even if it's just a "we're working on it, stay tuned" response.

Also hilariously there is a Robotech panel 3 days after theirs. I wonder which will have more people attending lol
