I'm aware of the Harmony Gold nonsense with SDF Macross, but if Sony/Funiroll released Robotech, they technically would be able to release the original Macross if Harmony Gold would allow them to. But I digress.
If the arrangement remains the same for Bigwest with Nozomi on the legacy Macross titles, what WOULD a Nozomi label reflect under the Crunchyroll regime? Because they would have to renegotiate with Bigwest to cross all the T's and dot all the I's. |

Sony are financing the Robotech movie so I don't see them wanting SDFM released anytime soon either.

Another thing to keep in mind is that even if SonyFuniCrunch were to go ahead with SDFM they do not have access to Big West's HD assets they released in Japan. Unless they work out a deal with Big west they'll have to squeeze juice out of the same masters they've been using since the 80's.
As for Nozomi, I could see it retaining its name as a quazi-independant entity/sub label. as a boutique label they only release older more niche titles which largely falls outside of SonyFuniCrunch's purvue of releasing and dubbing current day anime. |

As far as I know, neither Rightstuf, Anime LTD or Animeigo have made any formal announcements for their respective Macross releases. Animeigo's Macross II: Lovers Again might come out this year if Roberts grand announcement mystery project gets thrown in the can.

Others might know more than I do. I don't have Twitter and that seems to be the only place anyone ever makes announcements nowadays...

Anime Limited didn’t actually provide a timeframe for Plus’s release.

In terms of Macross info, Otakon was a dud. Nothing significant at all. |

The process for getting SDFM released on blu in the west is going to end up being akin to a prisoner exchange or a hostage release situation.
Perhaps there’s already an agreement that SDFM/DYRL won’t be released until after the live action Robotech film has been released, but it’s more likely that BW are going to have to significantly sweeten the pot to get around HG somehow. Maybe offer up access to other assets* (from one of the other shows) that they can use as the base for future Robotech ![]() Either way, I’m not expecting SDFM anytime soon. * Goes without saying that any contract along those lines would need to be bulletproof given HG’s previous…. I suppose the other factor here is what’s BW’s appetite in all this? Perhaps they’re content at just getting all the newer and future content into the west and not actually bothered about the original series and DYRL given the issues with both…. |

We may not get anything until SC is remastered and released on Blu-Ray in Japan. Because of it's low-regard in the eyes of the Japanese, it's always been ignored and neglected for remastering and HD release. The other two productions have obviously had HD masters for about a decade now and got their Japanese BD releases ages ago.

BW panel was just a handy for fans of the newer, idol-centric musical stuff, with a peak of upcoming productions. Nothing related to "classic" Macross was disclosed. Macross 7 was the primary focus for future release news and they are putting a lot of effort into supplements and extras to pad out the eventual release.

I can't argue with that statement and neither can the Japanese, since the production has been completely shunned since it was being made and deemed a failure early on.
