When Does "Meet In The Middle"(meaning compromise) Don't Work, When it Still Should W

So I'm just wondering when, in all areas of any happenings that should have a "Meet In The Middle". Where family members or who ever want to have their input added in the mix can. Where it will work out. Say like:

What color of the exterior of the family house should be.

The remodeling of an area of the family house, like a style, décor of how it should look.

What type of style lighting should be changed for which part of the house that getting that.


When a family member need a little of some home care in helping out on physical therapy of area(hand, walking, and even a little bit of speech) and what ever else the person need like help to the restroom. A member say will also have that do house work too. But another say NO, I don't like a person touching our stuff, ask where what, can this be thrown away. It like don't have the patience for that. Like Alice on the Brady Bunch, Alfred in the Batman universe or Mr. Belvedere(from the TV series). It like the person will understand the physical therapy helping part is more important, but just does not want what the other part a family member want also in addition to it. More like rather be like single people who never got married and living with a roommate, that don't clean the house that much. But still do and not let it go real bad.

I could go on with different happenings, but might be good enough.

Of course in the real world, at work it might be harder to have that happen in group projects.

But when it comes to families, can't be that hard to have a "Meet In The Middle" on things vs. at work. Where there are group projects. IF it is that hard or a family member's decision on it, is good enough. No need for a "Meet In The Middle", even when someone has a opinion on it or just want this way or that way added as part of the idea. Wouldn't it be asking a kid how do you want your room, is just being nice. It like don't have to do that at all. It like also don't have to ask the kids where you want to go on vacation. Where the parents want to go is final. So IF it Las Vegas or South Dakota, then it one of them. No Disneyland, Disney World or Lego land even If you want it, not your place to say. Even when you are born into this family. As for adult children that are still living at home for whatever reason(mental health problem and not working, etc.....), they are going to have opinions and reactions to thing. They are not going to forget about it. It on to something else like a kid. They got a brain and can think, have reactions and understand things.

It kind of like why should the human race be able to have something call individualism or family? Just be like the Borgs( from Star Trek The Next Generation) or humans can't be born into what is called family. They just suddenly appear on earth when ever. Shouldn't it be since individualism and family do exist in the human race, that there should be a "Meet In The Middle" at almost everything. When one has a view or don't like which part of what. Only on certain things not like family budget management how to get something fix up say a some what major house problem, like outdoor wires, the water heater, etc... Since this is not work like at a biotech company or defense contractor company. Where a member of a group project might not even want a "Meet In The Middle". He or she will not talk to the project head, and go straight to the department head.
