I've been running into moldy tapes lately. It's gotten to the point to where I won't bid on an eBay auction unless I can see the tape itself.

I already have a few stacks of tapes which I need to clean mold from enough to play and capture. I don't want to add anymore to the workload.

It's been almost 15 years since or so since I bought a VHS tape. I can't remember what it was it was probably an XXX movie or a bootleg.

Backup copy of LOOKING FOR MR GOODBAR, as I am really starting to doubt there is ever going to be a dvd/bluray release, even though there was some kind of highdef version streaming on Netflix a decade back (it was the reason I signed up for it!)

Oh, and INSIDE THE REICH, though it looks pretty ratty going by the first few minutes.

Is anyone a member of this Facebook group?

I've had my request pending for close to a month, and of course there's only one admin.

Well, I didn't buy it but while cleaning out more of my grandparents' house recently I found an original Ghostbusters VHS tape. (My mom remembers paying $60 for ours when it first came out.) I'm gonna keep it as a collector's item.

Geez, I think it might have been Batman or Six Days, Seven Nights. It was like 2002 or 2003, and my wife bought me a copy at a garage sale. We had a DVD player, but the vhs was super cheap.

Last summer I bought Toy Story 1 and 2 at a rummage sale. Came home and found out my wife bought those years ago herself. Oh well, it only cost me $.50 a piece. I have both of those right next to me as I type this.

I've never bought a VHS movie. I've always rented them back in the day. I've never bought any laserdiscs either because they were too expensive, and besides I didn't have a laserdisc player. I didn't start buying and collecting movies until DVD.

Excuse me for resurrecting an old thread that hasn't been posted in for a few months but I recently won some old horror VHS tapes on eBay.

The tapes themselves are worthless and I don't own a VHS player and do not know anybody that does but there's a definite nostalgia thing going on being just about old enough as a 10 year old to remember seeing these tapes on video rental shelves and falling in love with the artwork.

Two gooey special effects driven creature features from the late 80's here, The Bite and The Nest.

Great art and packaging. A total waste of money, but what the hell.

I found it at a random yard sale a few years back for a couple of dollars - the VHS box set of the two Ghostbusters films.

Grabbed these about a month ago at a Value Village for around a dollar. The completist in me (and longtime Evil Dead fan) just had to have these; ED 1 is even numbered lol (11143/35000).

Default Devouring Waves.

This just arrived, won on eBay because the cover is awesome and why not?

Also known under the title Monster Shark and Devil Fish the UK got Lamberto Bava's awful Jaws wannabe on VHS under the title Devouring Waves.

This is from the mid 80's and as such doesn't even have a barcode on the back, can you think of anything that is sold today that doesn't have a barcode on it?

20201211_164934_resized.jpg

The full wraparound artwork looks amazing.

They didn't even rewind the tape for me.
