Do you have Jamo speakers? My local Energy guy has them, but I never listened to them. I get the feeling he likes them a lot.

Yes, I do. I've had a pair of E680's for about two weeks now and they're great. I have two dealers in town, but neither carried the E680's. Fortunately, one of them had a pair of E660's left, that I could listen to.

I also have an S 506 HCS system coming today. I'm not sure about the quality of the S 506 towers (couldn't find many reviews), but I bought it primarily for the center. I got the entire system for the same price that purchasing the center alone would have cost.

I'll post some pictures by the end of the week hopefully (my camera recently bit the dust so I'll have to borrow one).

Default Jamo

Nice thread Get the feeling they are not very known in America...
These are mine (Jamo 507):

I need to take new pics - I have rearrenged the whole room..

I would love to get my hands on this subwoofer in the future, but hard to find used.. I buy allmost all of my equipment used because I still go to school and it saves me up to 50-70%

Niels, do you have a link to the specs on the 507? I looked through Jamo's website and couldn't find any info. I did find the D570 that looks very similar to what you have?

What are you using for a center/rears?

Edit: They aren't very well known in the US because there a relatively few dealers that carry them. Now that wwstereo has picked up the remaining E660/E680 stock, they are starting to get a little more attention, but they are still relatively scarce.

Actually no I dont have the specs.. The model is about 10 years old, so I guess that explains it.. I just love the design and the sound is very, very good as well.. I've looked at the D570 specs, and they are pretty much the same from what I can tell.. the 507 are 150/200 watts I think with the same gold plated bi-wire stuff My surround speakers are Jamo 200 and there are pics of them in my gallery.. I will borrow my dads camera and take some good pics - hopefully tonight! I looks a lot messier on the pics than it is now My center is the Jamo 160.. This is an amazing center imo.. A better speaker than my surrounds and I was impressed the first time I heard it..

I upgraded from a aiwa HTIB to jamo speakers with onkyo 705 and have been very happy with them. Granted i am not an audiophile but the difference between what i had and the Jamos were very impressive.

I was fortunate to get them very cheaply at CompUSA when they went out of business. I hadn't planned on upgrading but when i saw them and the price i took advantage of it.

3 pairs (6 total) of Jamo floor standing speakers (E 660, 100 watt to 140 max watt) @ 165.00 for each pair. 1 pair was the display model, the other 2 pairs are boxed.

1 Jamo center speaker (E6CEN.5, 80 watt to 110 watt) @ 90.00, Display model

1 Jamo subwoofer (A3Sub.3, 100 watt) @ 150.00, Display model

Post some pics!!

Very nice set-up. With a sub, the E660's would be great for HT use. What are your thoughts on the center? I managed to find one on eBay, but it was a different finish than the rest of my speakers so I passed. I also thought it would be a little underpowered (and it was a little over-priced imo).

Also, if anyone has links to any reviews, let me know. I'll put them in the first post. I'm having difficulty finding professional reviews.

Thanks, I've updated the first post. Man, I would love to be able to listen to the R 909.

Very nice!

Looking at the specs for the D 570 I noticed it was rated at 4 ohms, are your 507's as well?

Also, have you tried moving your fronts further out from the wall? I have mine about 14" from the back wall and the bass is tighter than when they are closer to the wall.

My dealer had a pair of 570's, but they weren't hooked up and since they were out of my budget, I didn't bother having him do it. Maybe next time I'm there I'll listen to them.

Callas,

Do you know which models he has? Either way, would you mind listening to them when you get a chance and report back with the differences between Jamo and Energy?

From what I read, Energy was a little more laid back than Jamo. Since I was unable to find a place to demo Energy, I ruled them out, but I would appreciate a comparison as they get a lot of positive reviews.

Hey Jwilly019,

I love your idea about posting the various reviews on your first post. Very easy to find that way for anyone interested in JAMO speakers.

Mind if I incorporate that idea into the Totem Speaker thread?

These are Jamo’s Reference R909 Open Baffle speakers. They cost $12,000.

My wife won't let me even look at them.

Maybe, when she is not looking, I should use some of my 401K money and buy them. Why should I leave all that money for the crooks on Wall Street to mismanage?

By all means, please do. In fact, I got the idea from Prerich in the Klipsch Speakers thread.

To put it simply, the lower the impedance (measured in ohms), the greater amount of current the amplifier must send to the speaker to power it. This thread should help.

The impedance is listed on the back of my E680's, I'm not sure if yours are the same way or not.

Disclaimer: I don't fully understand the subject myself. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

You wouldn't like these speakers; they're not loud enough. You'd never hear them when you're outside, hiding in the doghouse.

On the other hand, that may be where you'd have to hook them up. Maybe this could work out after all.

He would need to have a pretty big doghouse for that.

He's Big Daddy and of course he's got a big dog house! It's probably where he hid that Power Plant he needs to service all of his equipment.
