The whole movie looked great in 3D.

I think you missed the boat with the Alita discussions. Most people were engaged around the time of the theatrical release. But give us a detailed review and maybe you’ll draw out some discussions.

exceptional 3D in this one. The scene where they stand on the ledge and look down. Oh man that is top notch depth and 3D. Its like you too are looking down you are almost getting dizzy from the height they are on.

I really wish my local theater still did 3D but they stopped a while ago.

Finally got around to watching this. Very pleasantly surprised! Excellent 3D and the movie itself was quite a lot of fun. IMO we need more of this kind of stuff instead of more Marvel/Star Wars at this point.

Agreed, my favorite 3d movie of the year, hoping we get a sequel.
Last year Ready player One was my favorite, somewhat similar IMO

I agree, we need more movies like this one instead of Marvel/Star Wars. Though the movies I really want to stop are those soulless live action remakes of the classic Disney animated movies.

Not even a nomination! WTF? Ex Machina WON in 2016 (beating Fury Road) for a seamless-but-not-exactly-groundbreaking android character, while Alita, a next-level CG mo-cap creation (not to mention the phenomenal work elsewhere in the film), doesn't even make the list.

The VFX Oscar nominees this year:

1917
Avengers: Endgame
The Irishman
The Lion King
Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker

I was also shocked to see this snubbed for a VFX Oscar nomination. I've seen all of the nominees except for 1917 and I can safely say that Alita more than deserves to be included in that list.

I would replace the Irishman with Alita. I wasn't that impressed with the de-aging in the Irishman. Alita is amazing to watch!

I agree. They made Al Pacino look like Grampa Simpson and young Robert De Niro did not look like young Robert De Niro. Whereas Alita was the most believable CGI character I have ever seen.

I think face wise, Grewishka looked more convincing than Alita.

Started watching this last night, will finish it tonight. 3D depth looks fine so far but I was hoping for a little more pop-out given the nature of the movie. Hopefully there's more in the rest of the movie (I dozed off about 30 minutes in; movie's fine so far, I was just tired).

It was a couple bucks cheaper right before it became a little over $20.

For being under the producer credit of James Cameron of Avatar 3D, the 3D in Alita is good, medium, but could've been much stronger overall. Even so, great to have it on blu ray 3D. I have to watch this again, after just watching Rosa Salazar appear as an important character in Maze Runner's Scorch Trials and Death Cure. I haven't seen those movies till now, and the last two were actually entertaining, more so than the first film. There are some big leaps of logic in the story, but overall, the films were good action films with zombie like monsters. The last two were in 3D theaters overseas, but never made it to blu ray 3D unfortunately. Anyway, it was really cool to see Alita as she really is in real life, with her real face and performance as Rosa in those live action films.

That said, the CGI version of her as Alita in this film, was really well done and mostly convincing to me. Seeing her onscreen, I was not distracted by her being CGI, unlike with Leia at the end of Rogue One 3D, and Gran Moff Tarkin in that same film, which was supposed to be Peter Cushing. Same with the CGI fakeness of Jeff Bridges in Tron Legacy 3D.
