Yes especially when those opinions are being motorized. So it makes sense to follow the algorithms. You do not need original content, just reinforce a statement that is already out there.

Right, as an example look at the way Wonder Woman 84 went. There was original positive videos when the early reviews came out. Once the negative reviews started the videos all became negative.

Don’t people who complain about the saber toss in TLJ see it as a metaphor for how Luke was portrayed throughout most of the movie? He’s this grumpy sarcastic recluse who’s basically thrown everything away and the saber toss represents that attitude he has, which he has throughout most of TLJ. If JJ’s saber catch in TROS was supposed to be a jab at TLJ, most likely the jab wouldn’t be for that one single moment in TLJ when Luke tosses the saber, but for Luke’s attitude during most of the film. Again, I’m not saying I believe this, but I can see how this specific part of TROS could be interpreted that way. Most of the other perceived digs I don’t buy. Like Kylo putting his helmet back together. To me that is a natural progression of his character from TLJ. In TLJ he destroyed it due to his conversation with Snoke. But since he killed Snoke he can go back to being who he really wants to be, which is Vader 2.0.

No. It's a direct call back to a specific moment with the roles reversed. The rest of the scene with Rey in TROS is him relating to her how he acknowledged his failure, overcame it, atoned and faced his destiny (once more). Which we witnessed in TLJ.

Well he had the fate of his nephew and all his students + history on his conscience with the grandaughter of Palpatine to inspire him. While Rey had Saint Luke the White to help her out of her crisis.

That wasn’t the question though. The question was about the viewpoint of people who complain about the saber toss. I’m saying the saber toss on its own isn’t what they ultimately have a problem with, but one of many “sins” that TLJ Luke commits throughout the movie.

In the context of "JJ did that to have a dig at the way Luke was portrayed in TLJ." though.

I don't believe the people who freaked out at Luke tossing the saber away were really contemplating its metaphorical value. Unless it's as a metaphor for something they didn't want Luke to do.

It's like wondering if Vader having his hand cut off in ROTJ was for the benefit of all the people who see his cutting off of Luke's hand in ESB as a metaphor for the way his character was portrayed. I guess when people don't like something they could in theory take any one element and say "that's a metaphor for everything I don't like". The idea that Abrams went to that trouble of blowing a dog whistle for a section of the audience who might think that way is rather ludicrous. People seem to have a thing for George's "Maclunkey" addition. So where Favreau and Filoni having a dig at Lucas by using it in Mandalorian?

Luke catching the saber and mock-scolding Rey is simply an acknowledgement of the rehabilitation of Luke's character, his hopes and his attitudes which was depicted in TLJ.
