A (google translated) review:
https://translate.google.co.uk/trans...r/&prev=search Regarding the issue with the menu on LG OLEDs and the X700, doesn't look like it's widely reported. There are certainly a number of owners on other forums with LG tvs. Sounds like they were unfortunate enough to get a dodgy player. Definitely seems like this'll be the UHD player for me now. |

Which TV Display are you planning to hook up the Sony x700 to? Will you be using the x700 DV Feature when the FW arrives in the Summer. For that Display in the aforementioned question. |

Bob. You be surprised how many peoples not Low Latency DV versed. And Plan as their DV Display for x700__ to be one of the following DV Branded: LG, Visio, Phillip, TLC, Hisense. And forbid some to Samsung/Panasonic(wondering why DV won't come up)

I am learning more myself about that Dolby Vision low latency.
The more I learn the more if want to know. The more I know the less it's best to know, lol. Knowing the unknown. Dolby Vision, you want a player that supports it and matched to a TV that also supports it, or just forget it. And not all TVs that support Dolby Vision are created equal. Bob.
Heads Up. I've read of peoples with PC's/Laptops that easily tricked it to Think its in USA. Allowing USA VUDU. I believe from Laptop you can CAST USA Vudu Movies to your OLED with ChromeCast Ultra. Might be interesting to research above. https://www.vudu.com/setup_chromecast.html |

For now anyway. If 2019 brings any new OLEDs with passive 3D I'd be willing to trade up (as I mentioned in another thread, I've had a considerable number of issues with audio/video sync on the C6 which I've largely managed to mitigate but they're still an annoyance. I do love the LG interface though). Someone mentioned Vudu when outside of America. I actually did briefly have my C6 set up for that. It's possible in the UK. Basic steps are: - Use a third party remote to open the service menu. Change region to USA. - Setup a proxy on a PC, pick an american server, share the connect with the TV (can be done through router too, if it is fast enough, mine isn't so I use a PC as a virtual router.) - Log on to the LG store, you'll have all the USA apps. - Download Vudu. You probably won't be able to buy films directly through it without an American Credit Card. - There are countless websites online where you can purchase codes for digital copies of the film to activate on Vudu (usually discounted) without being in the USA. You can probably do all that with a Chromecast too, without faffing in the service menu of a TV. Anyway, back on topic. This player ticks all the boxes for me. I want something DV capable (not too fussed if it's available now or later) and the small footprint will slot nicely in to my Home Cinema unit. Initial reviews seem good but I'll just hang fire for a couple more UK reviews. |

Joe. Will this complete the process.
https://thevpn.guru/watch-vudu-outsi...-vpn-dns-proxy Hmmmm. Did'nt know about the At The Router. Would that allow the x700 VUDU App to work said in the UK, Germany? Much thank you's also to Mr. Grinchx for his detail sharing. Last edited by E6AtmosVuduDV; 02-09-2018 at 03:49 PM. Reason: Finishing |

Mr. Grinchx
Let me try to explain this in simple concept. Most all Brands DV TV's have a comprehensive module of Instruction Sets(call this Full DV Profile). Sony tried to implement Full DV Profile on their DV TV's with their A1 Xtreme Chip. Sony said it can't be done. So Sony FW installed a minimum DV Module "DV-Lite" onto their DV TV's(this is called Low Latency DV Profile). The Majority of DV procesing to be Shifted to their X700 Disc Player) The X700's DV Disc Playing will only work on DV TV's that have DV-Lite or Low Latency DV Profile. You LG C6 DV TV has Full Profile DV processing installed. It will not process in DV when a Sony x700 is connected. HDR10 4K, 1080p, DVD may still work. But you won't be able to see DV Movies. Currently only SONY DV TV's have adopted DV-Lite or Low Latency DV Profile. Oppo 203 in the months ahead will be working on a FW to send DV disc video to DV-Lite Sony TV's. No other DV Disc Player have announce they will follow suit(preferring to work only on FULL DV Profile embedded TV's). ie., LG UP970 DV Disc Player will not work on Sony DV TV's but will work when connected to LG DV TV's. Actually the LG UP970 Disc Players will work on 5 or 6 Brands DV TVs like Visio, TLC, Phillips, Hisense etc. If you decide on the Sony X700 then research for your best selection for a Sony DV TV, ie. A1e, Z9D, 930e, 940e. |

With this "Low Latency Dolby Vision" sony has come out they must think their the masters of the world in electronics when they actualy use to have subpar and overpriced products. Yes, their UBP X-800 UHD BD player looks like a bargain in terms of features and value but they've showed up that their quality control is nonexistent with some players working flawlessly (like my X-800 for 8 months and network/internet connection disabled) and others being a mess.
The great days of Sony are long gone and they try to pretend this didn't happen. |

So if I am reading all of this correctly, if I have an LG DV TV; I shouldn't depend on the x700 as my player of choice? It may not decode DV correctly as my LG tv has the full DV profile?
How do I check if my TV has the full DV profile? I have an LG UH8500 and I just ordered the x700 through Amazon today. Should I return the x700 and get the LG up970 instead? Or do we just have to wait and see until the the x700 receives its firmware update? Any insights? |

Feb 5, 2018 youtube shows LG UP970 DV is working.
Note his cheap camera don't do DV Video Justice by far. There has been like 2-3 DV Firmwares this last couple weeks or so.Then LG pulled the FW's each after being out shortly. Once to fix Country Region codes. And another one to improve LG UP970's Netflix DV App. The other DV FW Im not sure. Follow this Forum Thread for DV FW updates. And peoples experience with it. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...86113&page=130 Once it looks like the DV FW is sufficient enough for you... Buy LG UP970 at Best Buy. Buy a 4K Disc movie with DV. There are like 28 DV Disc movies available. Take both home. Do the install of LG UP970 DV FW. Connect UP970 to your LG DV TV. If Dolby Vision pops up THEN your LG DV TV has Full Dolby Vision Profile. Make sure all handshake settings correct, etc. Decide if you want to return LG UP970 back to Best Buy within its Return Window. If your LG DV TV shows have Full DV Profile then Sony x700 won't give you DV when connected to your TV. Thats Logic. But x700 may not get its DV FW till to August 2018. Or longer. So you can't test x700 with DV FW on your LG DV TV till at least then. Dang Understand!!! LG don't currently make DV TV's with embedded low latency Dolby Vision profile. The player DV update may not come until summer. No idea way that should take so long, but it will handle low latency DV processing just fine to any Sony tv with the X-1 Extreme chipset. Like the 930E. |
