Why does trying to post on this forum feel like pulling teeth? I realize I'm a new member, but Google my username; I have enough message board experience over the years. I don't need to be given the third degree. I posted a legitimate post last night and it still hasn't gotten approved 24 hours later? What exactly do I need to do? Why admit members if they can't post?

It never was this bad I just think we are seeing more traffic and trolls since Warner Bros has announced they are blu-ray exclusive. It's frustrating i know.

If you mean starting a new thread, I believe you need so many posts before it allows you to start a new one. I'm not sure how many you need, but sure someone here knows better than I . Good luck

Is it 10 posts to thread outside of the "Newbie" thread section?

it sucks but as was said before because of the Warner exclusivity news and the situation over at AVS there's been a lot of trolling and to avoid conflict and the diminished credibility of this site and these forums theres a lot of restrictions on new members.. its not a personal attack, just a precaution

Hi and welcome!

As a new member you can only create threads in the Newbie Discussion forum. After 3 days you will be able to create threads in all sections of the forum. This is to make sure that people use the search function, since it's 99.99% certain that the topic is already being discussed

Wow that did help! Anyone know when Lord of the Rings, Star Wars 6-pack, and the Bourne trilogy are hitting the stores on Blu-ray?

Bourne is currently only on HDDVD and as of now they are exclusive to that format.

A poster is not a troll simply because (s)he disagrees with some of the BS that appears in a particular forum or thread. This site is not immune from such fare. Sometimes it gets so thick that I have to put on boots up to my knees. The Moderators seem only interested in posts that extoll the virtues of Blu-ray, not reasoned discourse. Diminishes the significance of the forum and minimizes information flow. Well, here comes the ban...again.

And your first 2 sentences are correct

However the rest, is your own brand of BS

The problem is that what red ants see as "reasoned discourse" typically consists of thouroughly debunked talking points, hostility, snarky comments like that one. "Teaching the controversy" is not reasoned discourse, it's simply a way to attempt to not lose. Neither I, or any of the other mods will shut down reasonable debate (hint- AVS and HDD are not good examples of this)

I love Blu-ray. However, Toshiba has created a master stroke by selling its HD DVD player (A3 or A2) for under $300 and its available at places like Walmart, which, incidentally also carries Blu-ray players for at least $100 more. I'm becoming concerned that HD DVD may win the format. I'm not entirely convinced that most Americans will spend the extra bucks for a competing format that cost significantly more. If Sony and its partners are not careful, Blu-ray may end up a niche market and eventually go the way of the dodo and Elcassette (or Betamax).
That, is not reasoned discourse. That's standard "I'm not an HDer, I SWEAR" fare.

Mention WB and expect a ban. I mentioned a concern about the inordinate number of replacement issues and was banned. Sucks. Censorship lives on this site.
And then half your posts mention that you're going to be banned for them
Seems to me like you're on the road to a self-fufilling prophecy

Default When do I finally become "old" on this forum???

I just wonder WHY in the world this forum doesn't let a new member post anything. For how long? This is IMHO ridiculous, and a crooked brainchild of some administrator. Someone becomes a member mainly to react or post something new, but only to find out that he's castrated and can't post, because he's "New". When does one become "Old" finally?

Gard,
Hans Krause

You can post, you just can't post something with a link without it being approved, or start a new thread outside of the newbie section

Ok... so get the link thing now. Was wondering why some of my posts were going through immediately and others weren't...

I posted at least one duplicate before I saw this. I'll edit/delete one of them when I'm able to, but would think if this info was made a bit more obvious/apparent to all it could cut down on duplicate entries and therefore shorten the approval cycle.
