You have any pics of the damage?

I agree that the speakers can and will take all the power you can give them.

Were the boxes damaged or shipped by the seller damaged ???
That really is a lousy break either way.

Yeah, I'd def look into that. It's one thing if maybe the boxes were beat up but another if they are ok for the most part and if well packaged and depending how they were packed if with foam was that broke to where it would cause damage to the speaker. Or else they were like that from get go.

I remember being impressed with the low end of my old Energy RC-70's. But with the 28's, I sat and listened to music for a couple of hours, no subwoofer. That's how impressed I was with the low's of these speakers.
They completely destroy the 15's, and the rc-70's in every way imaginable.
The 28s are an incredible speaker. They just want more and more power.

May need a little education on amps. Do they hook to your receiver? Do you need a pre-amp? Do they work as a stand alone?

External amps generally work as follows, though this isn't a hard rule. Your external amp connects to your receiver's *pre-amp* out using, usually, an rca interconnect cable.....you then run speaker wire from the external amp to your speaker. In this scenario, I use no standalone pre-amp. I just let my Pioneer receiver act as the pre amp doing all the audio calibration. It then sends that audio signal (un-amplified) through the RCA cable to the external amp, where the amp picks it up and amplifies it, powering the speaker(s) it's connected to.

Note: My receiver has a single pre-out for each channel (7.2). So, you just connect the RCA(s) to the pre-out of the channel you wish to be powered by external amp(s)...which in my case, would be the center channel pre-out, since that is the only speaker I'm currently running with an external amp.

No response from him. But I can tell the speakers were not mint before he shipped them. So, xpa-2 or pioneer elite m-91? Leaning towards the Emo. I need some new equipment with warranties!

I have the OMD-28 feeded by Mcintosh MA 6900, pure 200 w per channel, and still my OMD-28 asking for more and more power, so neither the XPA-2 or the Pionner m-91 are good enough for your OMD 28, go ahead with the Emotiva XPR-2 and you wont regret it.

If you want to buy new the XPA-2 is the best deal going and it's on sale right now. A nice used amp that can be had very cheap is a Rotel RB-990 or 991. Usually around $300.

Wow, that XPR-2 is a beast! I never looked at it before. That's allot of amp for $1529.

Sorry to hear about your experience. I was actually surprised that you even received them because the seller sounds like a jerk. I wonder how many owners the speakers had before you?

The OMD series are such beautiful speakers in terms of design and finish (and of course the sound) and anyone who abuses them clearly isn't the kind of person to do business with.

Makes me angry just thinking about that guy!!!

Thanks guys! On a much better note, the C2 came today and it is in good shape!
Anyone else here think the Emo xpa 2 is insufficient in driving the 28's? It is 300 watts per channel...
