FYI - I ran wiring to the ceiling AND down by the floor. While the OMDR will not work on the wall, if I wanted to I could use my OMD15's in the rear corners. Tried to lay everything out so that I will have options down the road. |

I'm getting ready to mount the rear and front OMD5's. The plan since I will have drop acoustic ceiling tiles is to mount them downwards.
Question: For those of you who have done this is there an appreciable difference with the omnidirectional mounted downward? Pro / con? |

From what I read the best positioning for the height is directly above front LR speakers, unfortunately mine will be ~1.5' behind them since I will be wall mount. After the drop ceiling is installed, I will revisit it to see if it is practical to bring something off the joist to mount them directly above LR speakers.

Thanks Ixian!
Dr G I think I will do the same and purchase another set to keep in on hand. Never know if something will change down the line. Just got off the phone with my financial advisor and we were discussing audio systems. He told me about a HT system he heard on display in Australia that had 17 speakers! Said the sound presence was mind blowing. An example was similar that of sensing someone walking up and whispering in your ear. Is that like the Lexicon system I have in my Genesis???? It has 17 speakers. |

Hi,
Haven’t posted in a long long time. Living happy with my pair of OMD-28. I would like to get a hold of an OMD-C2 Rosewood but can’t find any. I regret not having bought one when the were still available. Anybody looking to sell one ? |

OK Mirage experts, I need some advice.
My Emotiva XPA-DR1 amp kept kicking into protection mode. I use that dedicated monoblock amp dedicated for the OMD-C2 center channel. I took the grill off and discovered both sub woofers on the OMD-C2 are not kicking out as they should - everything is coming out of the mid and tweeter. So it is definitely something inside the speaker. My guess is the speakers crossover is shot. No idea how I'm going to get it fixed/repaired. Looking for your thoughts before I tear into the C2. Did a little web digging on the Mirage crossover: Amplification type: Passive Crossover channel Qty: 3-way Frequency Response: 60 - 20,000 Hz Impedance: 6 Ohm Crossover frequency: 550 / 2500 Hz Does the board have a fuse? I have not dug into the speaker yet. Any suggestions? Parts Express or try to have it repaired? Last edited by StalkerVette; 09-06-2020 at 03:09 AM. |

I tried unsuccessfully to get to the crossover in the OMD-C2...
It appears the cabinet was assembled in a modular fashion gluing the internal baffle structure just before securing the speakers. The baffle has maybe a 3/4" air gap towards the front of the speaker as you are looking at it so there is no way to reach around it. The outboard carbon fiber woofers have maybe an inch of slack and the speaker wire is welded - so they cannot be removed without clipping the wire. The center mid-range cannot be removed because the tweeter is in the way, the tweeter mount has two screws - one from the outside on one inside, making it impossible to get to. They way they may have done it is to have the bottom open while the cabinet was still raw wood, this would give full access to internals. Then when finished do the piano black coating. I felt all surfaces feeling for a seem and could not find anything. I wish they would have made the enclosure like a Les Paul guitar, it has an access plate on the back side. I cannot see any way to get to the crossover. Has anyone attempted this? Hopefully Big Daddy is lurking around the forum and sees this. |

Klipsch bought the brand and had parts for awhile but others have posted that many parts are no longer available. I don't know if Klipsch has authorized repair shops. Cross overs tend to have more generic parts than drivers so you could possibly find a part if it is a capacitor or resistor that is bad. I have no idea how to get the cabinet apart. Good luck.

Are you sure it is the Mirage's? I run a similar setup - my Mirage front three speakers are powered by XPA1's. I had the issue where the XPA1 would go into standby mode. I connected with Emotiva, and after troubleshooting, it turned out to be the trigger circuit on the XPA1. I tried replacing the trigger cable - it worked fine for a few months, but, then it was back at it again. I now keep them on all the time. The other option is to send the unit to Emotiva to get that fixed.

So if those low end frequencies are present on other speaker and missing on the C2, then 1 of 2 things come to mind. 1. On the C2, are the bars that connect the binding posts together vertically still doing that job? Everything connected and tight? If not, that could be the issue. Check. 2. In the C2 there is a problem with the internal crossover circuitry, probably a blown cap but it could be anything. Not much else it can be. Edit: One other thing, have you tried connecting your amp to the other set of binding posts on the C2? Might as well, just to see if that makes any difference...
