Didnít know they did a release of this over there already sadly not surprising they do use grain reduction.

Hmmmmm, should I wait for Discotek to get this before even bothering with Mamo?

BTW, I noticed the discs to Part 1 had these text things that talked about the episodes and gave like easter eggs and insights on things that might have influenced the story. Are these available on every Lupin disc for every series and movie? I had never seen these done before and would love to read more.

The 4K master for mamo from Japan is known for being horrible, so I would highly suggest just getting Discotek's regular BD.

As for the liner notes, it depends on release but many do have small notes like that, yeah
Not all of them though, though they usually state on the back

Are you talking about the liner notes on our (Discotek's) releases? To varying degrees. Part I and II both have them. III and IV have some, but not as in depth. V does not have 'em.

A lot of the movies have them, Mamo and Cagliostro for instance do, and I can't remember if we did them for Gold Babylon. And a handful of the specials, when there's notable material to talk about.

As for waiting for us to do Mamo on 4k, well, I can tell you that the 2023 slate is completely booked already so if we were to ever do it, it wouldn't be anytime soon. Who knows what this new French release even looks like at this point anyway; it would be nice if it's good! We declined releasing the original 4k master they did a while back.

Sentai Filmworks releases very rarely have slipcovers, only a small handful have had them in the nearly 14 years they've been releasing things. Shame they didn't do a slipcover nor have interior artwork so it would match Discotek's releases. I mean, look at what Central Park Media did for the second Urusei Yatsura movie so it would fit in with the AnimEigo releases of the other 5 movies. Sentai could have done that, but nope, sigh.

That's super disappointing. It's gonna look so weird next to them on my shelf.

It had a globe-spanning story, which is always a lot of fun. Maybe my expectations were just very low because I still remember an old ANN Cast where Zac Bertschy savaged it. The dub was pretty good too, and it fits very nicely with other Lupin dubs, even though this cast only did one other Lupin property (one of the many Mamo dubs). I wasn't even bothered by Lupin being called "Wolf."

Lupin Central did an indepth (AKA - spoiler filled) review here: https://www.lupincentral.com/home/re...isodes-1-and-2

When I asked for a quick, spoiler free TL;DNR, they responded with a tweet full of thumbs up. So that's a good sign!

Glad you liked it, although I wasn't that big a fan of it (My review of "Bye Bye Lady Liberty" when I first saw in back in 2017):

"Bye Bye Lady Liberty" an alright story for the first TV special but it does rely on A LOT of coincidence e.g. Goemon happens to meet a random woman on a train who happens to be the target of the bad guys who also happens to be the mother of a boy who happens to at that moment be recruiting Lupin to find her. While there are some cool Dezaki animation (his Harmony technique for example) there is also some odd animation to, like when the hypnotised Fujiko is chasing Lupin & Jigen she jumps off her bike and kind of just ... floats there in midair while having a conversation with Lupin until he pulls her into the car.

There's some other odd things to (the leaders unexplained magic powers like vomiting up a sword out of his body ) and Michael's story just ends without a resolution (did he get left with any relatives?), also the special seems to want us to feels sad when
[Show spoiler]Isabel dies
yet
[Show spoiler]Shes one of the top members (and eventual leader!) of a cult trying to rule the world plus she abandoned her son for these goals
so it really feels hollow IMO

Overall an OK special but IMO not as good as say "Island of Assassins"

Free shipping kicks in at $50 if you are in the US. It’s not too difficult to hit that threshold. If you aren’t, and I had no way of knowing my apologies, that’s a ripepperonis.

No, not right now; during the holiday sale Rightstuf reduced the US free shipping threshold to $50.
