oh, I get it.

Can we not turn this into a joke thread, though? I don't want to have to figure out when people are really looking for help or not.
(Wasn't there an "explain a movie plot badly" thread? Use that.)

Hello everyone,

This is actually kind of a unique ask.

I'm trying to track down the titles of some old VHS tapes I used to own when I was little.

I've attached a blurry, zoomed-in screenshot of them.

The yellow one on the left is "Fantastic Dinosaurs of the Movies".

Does anyone have ANY clue what the others may be? I think most of them are compilations of scenes and/or trailers from genre movies, but can't be certain.

That double-VHS "Dinosaurs" one seems to have a still from an old stop-motion dinosaur movie on its spine.

Any help would be appreciated — thank you!!

Found most of them. Still working on the first one.

#5 is just called Dinosaurs! but here's a UPC or ISBN code at least:

#6 is maybe(?) this one (This is the one I am least certain about):

Not 100%, but I *think* second from the right is this one:

The far right is "The Great Dinosaur Hunt"

So there have been a handful of movies I’d catch part of on TV when I was a kid that would stick in my brain that I have rediscovered over the years as an adult. But there’s 1 left that I’ve never been able to place. Here’s what I remember:

I’m guessing this would have been the late 70s/early 80s. There’s an old woman walking home down a sidewalk in a dodgy part of town. I’m assuming it’s New York. I think she might be carrying groceries. And she’s followed by two men that are advancing towards her and it gets kind of intense. I remember closeups of one of the guy’s shoes or boots which have some metal on them and they kinda clank as he moves towards the old woman. And they finally reach the old lady and attack her violently.

I was really little when I saw this on TV and it kinda upset me because I didn’t expect her to actually get attacked and I’ve always wondered what it was. A year or so ago, I watched the 4K release of Vigilante for the first time and got kinda excited when I thought that might be it but it wasn’t. But that was the right tone. I feel like maybe it’s one of the Death Wish movies but I haven’t gotten around to checking those out. Any idea what this might be??

Let’s Scare Jessica to Death, Prince of Darkness, Over the Edge, Dressed to Kill, and Alice, Sweet Alice are a few of the movies I saw parts of on TV as a kid that I ultimately rediscovered later but this one I’ve never been able to find. Any help would be appreciated!

I believe it was a Jewish film, based in either Poland or Israel. I believe it was about someone that worked in a shop where I think they repaired violins, or maybe pianos. I seem to recall them repairing musical instruments. Feels like it was shot to be the current time. It was not a documentary. Maybe the main actor didn't want to do it for a living, but found a reason to. I remember not being depressed when I left the theater. I saw over 100 films at the festival that year, so it's all kind of a blur.

Again, it was at a film festival -- so it will be a miracle if anyone is able to pull the actual title out of thin air. Thin air: what's left of my memory of the movie -- very little.

When I do a google search, "Once" comes up. It also sounds like I could be talking about or misremembering the Polanski film "The Piano." It's not either of those movies. A film far less people have seen than either "Once" or "The Piano."
Was it Restoration?

The first movie I thought of was "A Heart in Winter," where Daniel Auteuil played a violin repairman. But the year isn't right.

i know you said not a documentary, but just to be sure...
there is a 2010 film called Amnon's Journey, where a man repairs and restores violins lost in the holocaust.
If you google the title, you can find better synopses and it's on Vimeo.

Action movie:

I'm trying to find a movie's name, it was from the 90s I guess, the actor is not well known and he was a cop or an agent dressed with jeans ala Nathan Drake, he was like van Damme.

I remember a scene where he's trying to save a woman from some terrorists, she's in a room, like an old fabric, blindfolded. The cop gets capturated and they put him into the same room and gets tied up with ropes and covered up his mouth.

This was like the ending of the movie, it was located in the desert, i believe.
He manages to escape from the room and he recues the girl from being killed or excecuted... I remember a helicopter too. Both get into one.

Hope this helps. Thank you

Jeff Speakman in The Perfect Weapon looks exactly like Nathan Drake. Now the plot points don't line up with your description, but maybe it's another movie starring him?

Mid to late 1980s, possibly very early 90s, definitely no earlier or later. American or Canadian. Drama/thriller. Not horror or supernatural or anything. Colour. Features a boy (young/mid teen with glasses if memory serves, possibly adopted) who is trying to kill his parents and/or sibling(s). I seem to remember there's a scene on a frozen pond. Probs straight to vid or made for TV. Seemed to be trailed on pretty much every single VHS video I rented.

I am NOT thinking of:
Omen 2
The Good Son
The Stepfather or sequels

Can anyone help smash this 25+ year old memory frustration??

Im trying to remember a particular movie and for the life of me I can’t seem to remember the name. One memory I can recall is either kids/teens (maybe adults) roaming through an old apartment building and it looks like an 80’s/90’s film. I believe kids were messing around and someone got killed. Also to note I believe the kids were playing hide and seek

Sounds a lot like Prom Night (1980)

Default Any motorcycle movie experts?

I’ve been trying to figure out which movie that I saw at a drive-in movie theatre between 1962 and 1980 has this scene as the ending (I remember the ending, but not the title or the rest of the movie).

I remember that there is a man and a woman in the middle of the desert with their motorcycle surrounded by a motorcycle gang. The leader of the motorcycle gang takes a knife and cuts the fuel line of the couple’s motorcycle draining all of the gasoline onto the desert sand. The motorcycle gang then all mount their motorcycles and leave in unison leaving the man and woman and the motorcycle with the empty fuel tank in the middle of the desert presumably to die. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hello Everyone,

I hope someone can help me figure out the title to this movie, I watched on Cinemax back in the 90's and the only parts I remember are listed below:

*The main character plays kind of a has been actor and no one likes him because he thinks he's great and treats everyone like crap. The only thing he truly loves is his dog (a golden retriever I think)

*The dog dies and he spirals into depression and he ends up dying somehow and goes to heaven and while he is being judged his dog comes forward on his behalf to prove he can show love and he is given a second chance and is sent back to earth

*I remember at one point he get a job as a Celebrity "Look alike" pretending to be himself to make money.

I know this isn't a lot to go on but I hope it's enough.

Thank you for any help!
