I see it on IFC every so often.
Thank you so much! I really liked it the only time I saw it. Sadly it looks like no US version on Blu.

I would really appreciate it if anyone knows this movie

What's that war movie about the two guys stuck in a helicopter, and then the foreign troops are coming for them, and it's hopless for them and sad?

Thanks a lot!

I've got one that for some reason pops to mind whenever I see this thread title.

The movie includes a scene that takes place in a concentration camp compound. A newly-arrived contigent of prisoners includes an Austrian (I believe) who was a high-ranking member of the aristocracy or was otherwise famous in some capacity. When he protests his present status he is unceremoniously stripped in the sub-freezing cold, suspended by ropes, and doused with a water hose until he perishes within a coating of ice, as an object lesson to the other prisoners.

It's clearly a memorable scene, but I cannot recall the name of the movie or much else about it. I have a sense that the prisoner was played by Ralph Fiennes, but I couldn't find anything in his filmography that I recognized.

Anyone?

There was a movie I saw on TV when I was a kid, around '80 or '81, that involved two factions of the same alien species, where the bad aliens were trying to take over Earth. However, instead of an outright invasion like in other sci-fi movies, they started inducing everyone in the world, via a hidden TV signal I think, to commit suicide. The good aliens, led by a female, enlisted the help of the main character, a human male who was a scientist IIRC, to help stop the bad aliens. In the last act, the man's wife kills herself by cutting herself with a kitchen knife, but after saving the world from the bad aliens, the man and the good aliens arrive in time to revive her with their advanced technology.

Does anyone recognize this?

Im not sure, but this sounds like part of the tripod trilogy. There were a series of three books and one was made into a tv show in the 80s called "The Tripods" it may not be what you were looking for but the subliminal messages through the tv is dead on.

"Sunshine" (1999) with Ralph Fiennes. He was the character that was frozen.

I'm thinking of a movie from the 80's or 70's which involves a group of people - probably a family - living on a planetary or lunar base, or space station.

In one scene, one of them gets a shard of something stuck in her (his?) eye and a robot or machine is used to remove it. IIRC there's an extreme close-up of a clamp delicately pulling it from the surface of the eye. I'm not sure but I think the robot is controlled by a character that the others don't trust, and the robot itself is either dangerous or malevolent.

Very memorable scene that stuck with me even though I've forgotten the plot beats of the actual film.

Thanks, all!

I have had some scenes from a movie I seen years ago stuck in my head for awhile, any help will be appreciated. I am pretty sure it came out between 2000 -2010, might be older though.

At the start of the film there is a girl running from some zombies or robots in this small town.

The last part of the movie has all the main characters riding on a platform or ship and the background is blue, the whole room they are in is blue and its a huge building.

Ok, so this movie has crossed my mind on occasion and yet I cannot remember its title or who even starred in it. I'd say I saw this 10 or 12 years ago and that's probably how old it is.
All I can recall is it centered around these college students who probably were very smart and a bit self-centered. They were in class and the professor was talking about crime and murder and how they're solved. These students then took it upon themselves to try and pull off the perfect murder without getting caught. Throughout the film it looks as if they do succeed in fooling the authorities but at the end some ironic twist seems to nail them and they're caught. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Yes! Thank you Giants Fan! Went back into iMDB and looked it up. Evidently came out in the shadow of "Schindler's List" and suffered at the box office as a result. Still a fine picture and wouldn't mind seeing it again...

Yes it does, but can't help you with the title. I believe it was a pretty main-stream flic though so someone should be able to help you out in short order.

Might be Murder by Numbers (2002) with Sandra Bullock.

Ok, here's one I've been trying to find for a long while. I searched the key phrase and came up with nothing.

The movie is set in Vietnam during the war. A soldier is stuck outside the confines of the base in which he is stationed, late at night. He decides the only way he can get back in is to crawl under the barbed wire protecting the complex; a dangerous move given that he could be mistaken for the enemy if he is discovered. As he crawls beneath the wires, he looks over and sees a VC soldier crawling under nearby (possibly more than one?). Wanting to warn his fellow soldiers, but knowing that if he does he'll be shot accidentally as an aggressor, he decides to yell at the top of his lungs, "Gooks in the wire!". A huge firefight ensues, killing the soldier and the enemies trying to infiltrate the base.

The sacrifice displayed here was very moving, not to mention the agony of the decision to warn his fellow soldiers. I only saw the scene once and I'm sure it was very memorable to a lot of other people. Can anyone recall the name of the film?

A buddy of mine has been asking the past couple of days if I know of an 80's or early 90's movie where a guy has to race his old car (57 Chevy iirc) around town to save a school (?). He thought it was called Catch That Kid but that turns up a Kristen Stewart remake movie from '04.

My searching leads to Catch Me if You Can (1989)
Per IMDB.com: A hotshot, teenage car racer persuades the class president of a small Minnesota high school to gamble on illegal car races to raise money for their school facing closure.

I haven't seen it, but it sounds about right.

The movie I'm thinking of has a robbery, and one of the guys either gets shot or leaves fingerprints, but they pour vinegar or some other chemical on it so they can't test either the blood or fingerprints. Any help?

I'm thinking it may be The Town, but I can't remember.
