Some interesting comments from Robert Rodriguez about how he adapted James Cameron’s Alita script: https://www.comingsoon.net/movies/ne...cameos-sequels

Also saw this for a second time yesterday. Yeah I love this movie. Will definitely see it at least once more in theaters to support it.

Seriously can't understand some of the complaints about this movie from critics. Boy do they have it wrong. I think the script and pacing are actually pretty good for the most part. The set up for sequels IMO is not a detracting factor at all so complaints that this needs to be a complete story are wrong. There is no way they could do that just like there is no way to tell a complete story like Lord of the Rings in one movie. If this does get a sequel then that complaint is moot anyways but even still there is always the manga to read.

Also pre-ordered my first Hot Toys of Alita. Looks too awesome to pass up.

I just refunded my Gundam NT tickets. I can't do it. I watched the official preview in English and died. It's been a great many years since I've dedicated more than 10 minutes to dubbed anime. Man, I can't believe they're still trying to match the timing with the mouths animated for the original language. Most of the time the actors are speeding or eeyore'ing through the script, and the only time it sounds natural is during a face off screen monologue. Then I'm reading through the comments and one person says that they got the original version with subtitles as an ad. I went and watched that, and, well, I'm enough of a U.C. Gundam fan to buy this on BD.

Also I think the character designs beyond the promo art and ugly compared to Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's. I didn't even recognize Martha until one of the other characters called her by name.

Anyway, due to response on here I'll be buying tickets to Alita.

Just noticed that the Fathom Events for Fate/Heaven’s Feel II and Made in Abyss are going to shown at my local movie theater! Now I don’t have to drive 30-40 minutes each way to see a movie (like I did with Bebop and Night is Short).

Does Fate/Haven's Feel II really not have a dubbed showing?

No dub, but that’s fine, as the fate series has always had terrible dubs and localizations (Zero being the only exception).

Funimation began streaming a new English-subtitled trailer on Friday for the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection (Code Geass: Fukkatsu no Lelouch) sequel anime film. (The video is only available in the United States and Canada.)

The film opened on February 9 in 120 theaters in Japan, and debuted at #5 at the Japanese box office. The film has earned a cumulative total of 705,524,950 yen (about US$6.35 million) as of February 24, and has sold more than 500,000 tickets as of March 2.

Funimation will screen the film in North America on May 5 (subtitled), and on May 7-8 (dubbed), after screening the film at Seattle's Sakura-Con convention in April.

Director Goro Taniguchi confirmed that many of the key staff members returned for the movie, and specifically emphasized that the story is complete in one film, which serves as a finale. The film's story begins in the world two years after Zero Requiem.

Leo Ieiri performed the opening theme song "Kono Sekai de" (In This World), and Unione performed the ending theme song "Revive." In addition, Ali Project performed the insert song "Utsukushiki Kemonotachi no Tame no" (For the Beautiful Creatures).

The dub on zero is good? Waste of a good dub I guess...

Also, late to the alita party. Finally a good manga or anime adaptation.

Went and saw Lost Butterfly on Thursday. Man, that was rough... (I didn't understand why people were calling this r8py torture until after.) I'm usually the last person to try and look down upon what other people do, but I can't believe families were bringing their very, very underage children to this. I mean, it wasn't super brutal or obscene, but I would say very mature, and not (in my opinion) suitable for kids under 10 years old.

My only Fate experience is with Deen/Zero/UBW/UBW Again, so it has been interesting seeing the (rather drastic) differences, but it was quite an emotionally draining experience. There was a couple next to me, and during that scene with Sakura the BF had his head in his hands, then left and didn't come back until after the movie.

So on to more cheerful things, Made in Abyss tonight!

Did anyone attend the Fruits Basket premiere at the movie theater? My sister went on 3.26 but she said they only showed one episode not the two that was shown on the promo. She did get some cool swag.

Nope, only one single theater in the entire state (Minnesota) was playing it and it wasn't nearby.

There were no showings of the Fruits Basket premier anywhere in Utah. I so wanted to go! Utah always gets the short end of the stick for the more “exclusive” anime premiers.

I just watched OKKO'S INN last night. It wasn't anything to blow your mind away, or anything as magical as the Ghibli's titles. However, it did have its own charm, and I liked it.

[Show spoiler]In fact, I like Okko's Inn better than Mirai though, because Okko's Inn doesn't have annoying character(s).
