Hello everyone, new to posting here. I’m usually reading what others have to say and I always find something interesting to read on these forums. Was just wondering especially from those who don’t live in the U.S. (like myself) where they shop for discs. The obvious and probably most popular answer will be Amazon. I’m just so bummed out at what it constantly costs me to get discs to my door. I’m always in awe at what blu rays cost in the States and free shipping (with prime) on top of that. Wow.
Comparing .ca to .com after the exchange + shipping + duties, it’s not even worth it sometimes. Case in point - Barnes and Noble is currently having their annual Criterion half price sale, which I would definitely go to, except there aren’t any B&N locations in Canada. Their sales are also limited to the U.S. as they don’t ship to Canada...sigh. Was checking out Gruv.com last week after reading about it somewhere and once again disappointed that they do not ship across the border. Sorry just a bit of a rant, but was just curious about others in the same situation. Thanks! |

The CA subforum in the Deals section has some sites that are cheaper for Canadians.
The variation of friends with benefits has been long standing. For folks near the border or have CA Friends who live close to the border, there are tons of PO Box/Package rental places on the US side that folks set up just to order from US retailers that don't ship to CA. Pandemic restrictions caused some folks to accumulate a year or more of packages which they've just now been able to retrieve though I have friends who curried favor with a Travel Nurse who worked in the US so she was allowed to go back forth without an issue. Most expensive and used more for out of North America customers are 3rd party reshippers which set up a Shipping Address then repackage/reship for a Handling fee. |
