I seem to be unable to respond to threads or create my own threads outside of this forum, I read the rules and cannot find anything about this - do I need a minimum post count to be able to post in some sub forums?

You need 10 posts before you can create any threads. And there is a time restriction before you can post in the trading forums.

For those that still can't post in certain areas just keep an eye on the permissions located in the bottom left corner of any page and it will show when you are allowed. It doesn't take long.
