We do already, even with the out-of-this-world pricing we are seeing. (We started out buying DVD-Rs at $20 each; now DVD-Rs cost less than the CD-Rs; so look forward to BD-Rs following this.)
I work mostly with BD-R, (Blu-ray Recordable disc)

I guess other terms we use are BD-ROM and BD-Video to distinguish what's on the disc. (It's all in the sig. )

Guess I'm a minority of 1 (as usual). When speaking I ask for Blu-Ray; when typing I've been in the habit of typing BR.

VHS does not stand for Video Home System, It stands for Video Helical System for your info.

As lots of people have mentioned the correct abbreviation is "BD" (fine), if you want to say it full it's "Blu-ray Disc" (fine), if you want to be clear but concise say "Blu-ray" (fine) and miss out the disc. I'll probably say "Blu-ray" as I do.

But If the term "Blu-ray DVD" catches on I'm going to go on a killing spree.

I really don't care, and don't see why anyone would care what other people call them.......

When working for one of the largest manufacturers of ATMs in the world, I didn't feel the need to correct people who said "ATM Machine" I figured if I corrected people, I'd sound like an ass, and it doesn't hurt anything for people to call them ATM Machines......

If you can't sleep at night because someone says "Blu-Ray DVD" or feel the need to have a sarcastic (to the point of being rude) response when someone's first post is "What is the best Blue-Ray Player to get" You obviously have a lot of short-comings you're trying to over-come by putting down others and pointing out their faults.

Edit: BTW I would point out "Blue-ray" mistake to a newbie, not in a mean way though. Also BD is easier to type than Blu-ray, but when speaking, Blu-ray sounds nicer than Beady.

Yes. "Video Home System" is a backronym, just like "Digital Versatile Disc".

I agree. We may use BD when typing it out on forums like this but I don't forsee the general public using BD. I expect it will always ne referred to as Blu-ray. BD sounds too close to VD and do we want our favorite format being confused with a disease.
