Thumbs up SCTV on DVD/Blu-ray Petition

Wow... someone has started a petition to get the complete series of SCTV on DVD and Blu-ray. I have signed and I hope you will, too.

While it's great to have all the Network 90 episodes, I haven't seen the complete Cinemax stuff since it was first on in 1983-1984 I believe.

Lightbulb Which studio besides Shout might release the series SCTV on DVD/Blu-ray?

Obviously, Shout Factory did all they could to get as much of the classic Canadian Comedy Series SCTV released on DVD. Now the rest of the series sits in limbo due to music clearance issues.

Is it still possible for this show to get a complete release somewhere down the road? I guess, is this it for SCTV? Is it dead as a doornail because of Music Clearance challenges? Is there no hope for this beloved Classic of Comedy?

What is it that we fans can do to show our support? Maybe there could be a kick-starter campaign? Could another studio besides Shout take over? Like Kino? Maybe Mill Creek or some other independent studio? Maybe Fabulous Films?

Any ideas or suggestions about this issue? As it stands, things look very grim for the show. Maybe NBC, who broadcasted the 90 minutes show could do this?

I have started a petition to Shout, but this may not work. I am hoping to find some way to help this series get back up and off the ground.

Have you ever seen what SCTV looks like? There’s no benefit to putting fuzzy early-80s SD episodes on Blu-ray.

This also belongs in the Wish List forum.

unfortunately, you're right. This was at times a great show however and contains many skits that I still fondly remember today (and yes, some terrible ones too but all comedy is like that).

There are several things that I would love to have on blu ray but will probably never see--- the example above, early SNL, and music videos from the 80's that I grew up with and love.

Wow OP originally acted surprised that someone made this petition and then said he created it in a different post, and now they’re merged

At the time, this was the only place to see spot on impersonations of the likes of Bob Hope, Judd Hirsch, Maggie Smith, Elizabeth Taylor, Charlton Heston, James Coco...
I'd be more than satisfied with continuing the missing seasons on DVD.
