The HD juga naught has started to gain pace. One use for BD will be for "home movies" although there have been a few expensive DV Prosumer camcorders here is the first of the memory only - hence a demand to store on another medium - the perfect choice BD and you can record in the poor mans HD (720p). Rumours have been around for a few weeks but this seems to be well informed.

The Xacti HD1 from Sanyo is getting pretty poor reviews, but it does open up the market for lots of HD products at a low cost. About the only redeeming quality of the Xacti is the OLED screen.
I own the HDR-HC3 and it's a dream come true. HDMI built in, Small and AWESOME 1080 HD recording. Looks phenomenal on my 720p 3LCD via component and shines even more on HDMI. I chose the Sony for many reasons. HDV (mini dv) will be around for many many years, and almost all editing programs work via ieee1394(firewire) dvd bases units work off of usb2 which most software won't recognize. Also, with all the new formats HDDVD/Blu-Ray no matter which one wins, i can convert it over in the next couple of years via a BRRW drive or HDDVDRW drive and watch it on my next gen player that way. |

It depends on what you want use it for. My main use is a little different to others here. I want to tie it to my head, then throw it out of a plane. With the weight of of a 35mm Digital SLR and helmet, the weight is increasing. One hard opening like I had a couple of weeks ago and head will go in one direction and body in the other. Yeah I know it will be an improvement, but although my brain is not a very good one, it's new as I haven't used it much and I still like it. Everyone else on the DZ have these small light DV non HD cameras - I want the same in HD (Don't you love 2LA and TLA's). |
