Default Receiver Recommendations

Hello all

I am looking for a recommendation for both a receiver for a 5.1 system, and appropriate speakers that will together cost no more than £1k. The room my home cinema will be in is not big so not looking to blast sound.

I have a Sony projector and Panasonic 450 4k player.

Any thoughts would be very helpful.

My best David

Ok folks, I am looking at a Denon 4700 with Dolby Atmos as my receiver.

My question here is - Is this overkill for a small, living room sized cinema space? Is there a cheaper option that had Dolby Atmos that would give as good a sound?

Please help me with your comments and experience.

If you're talking the 4700H, that looks like an excellent choice!
Though you've said 5.1, getting this one keeps good Atmos options open if you decide to upgrade to that at some point.
No, it's not overkill. It's better to have more power than you actually need and the advertised power is likely for 2 channels driven and will drop considerably with more speakers to drive.
The 4700H is nicely loaded so is fairly future proof.
I think that in a small room, this is close to perfect for your wants.

Totally agree with Scarriere, the 4700 is a great AVR (I would get this myself if I had the coin. Instead, I will have to "settle" on the 3800 instead). Furthermore, this will "future proof" you.....thus keeping you satisfied for a while and away from getting the feeling you want/need more down the road.
