It'd be a shame if that was the only extra on Warriors, there's a good deal more on the Australian version.

I'm sure they'll add more. They haven't finalised the extras for any of these on Facebook yet, let alone revealed artwork or packaging, apart from Pomegranates/Heimat/Alexanderplatz.

Certainly an improvement on the current UK disc! Didn't expect a film this recent would get picked up, so pleasantly surprised. Doubt we'll ever get a Blu-ray for Shotgun Stories, or special editions of Mud or Midnight Special, but this is the next best thing.
This was unexpected! Gives me mope more UK Universal releases that got short-changed extras wise might be in with a chance yet (I'm looking at you The Witch). Wonder if they're trying to snag the Nichols commentary from the US disc.

Excellent news all around, Second Sight are certainly putting themselves on the level of the best boutique labels with this batch of releases.

I remember I suggested McBride's Breathless to them years ago, hopefully they can add a few more extras to it.

Isn't Once Were Warriors part of the NZFC package of films that you couldn't licence separately? If that's the case, hopefully The Navigator, Angel at My Table, The Quiet Earth etc. will get a release too.

Still awaiting news on their announcement of The Amazing Mr Blunden, they said it was coming about 18 months ago then said it was on hold.

Asked them a while back and got no response.

Anyone know if Berlin Alexanderplatz will have the proper 25fps frame rate?

Artwork (a black case was a no-brainer, really):

"Many thanks to Director Lee Tamahori who we recently interviewed for our February 19th release of ONCE WERE WARRIORS. The Blu-ray will feature:

‘Once Were Warriors - Where Are They Now?’ - a documentary looking back at the film’s impact and reuniting the cast 20 years later (52 mins); and -

Directing The Warriors - a new interview with Lee Tamahori."

Cool, I never actually saw this film when it was on DVD so will pick this up when it's a bit cheaper. Nice to see some older NZ stuff showing up, with this and Arrow's upcoming release of Shooting Dogs.

I wonder how Second Sight are getting on with their new edition of Take Shelter? Must admit I don't usually upgrade films but I have a soft spot for Nichols and I loved this film, so much so that I own the soundtrack on vinyl. If this shows up in HMV's 2 for 25 I reckon I'll grab it.

Curious to see the Breathless remake as well, having heard about it a few years ago and quite liking Richard Gere under the right circumstances (e.g. Days of Heaven is a masterpiece). XTRO looks bizarre, the kind of thing I'd be curious to see but not sure I'd shell out 20-30 on a blind-buy so may get a slimmed-down version later on.

Talking of which, where the hell is the reissue of The Amityville Horror? I was looking for it in my local Sainsbury's last October/November and it never showed up, so it must've been only in massive stores or something (my local is pretty big though). I may end up getting the steelbook if I find it cheap but I'd still like to know why this hasn't had a wider Amaray release...maybe it didn't sell as well as they'd hoped? It's still a classic cult film though, so you'd think there'd be plenty of people out there interested in getting it (like myself).

I notice Amazon have changed their due date for Heimat to March 19th - hopefully that's just an Amazon error and I still get my HMV order on February 26th!

So, not wearing that black off the shoulder number anymore, then.

Some people have apparently had emails that Heimat and Berlin Alexanderplatz will be delayed to May now. To be fair to Second Sight, at least they're not rushing these releases. The Colour of Pomegranates is already more impressive than Criterion's, for example.

Yes, if it means it looks all the better, that's great. But also a tad disappointing having to wait even longer

Ooh! Second Sight just teased a new title on their Facebook page: Peter Medak's The Changeling (1980) starring George C. Scott.

I've waned to see this one for a while and a Blu-ray release didn't look promising - thought StudioCanal would still have it - so this is great news!

We know Severin have the rights to the title in the US, so it will be interesting to see if they're collaborating on a release. Apparently Severin are doing a new 4K restoration, so it would make sense to split costs. Theirs is apparently scheduled for May, so it would be nice to know what Second Sight have planned before then.

Makes you wonder if The Hitcher (another title with HBO in the US, and I believe Studio Canal here) has changed hands...

Surprised Breathless is a 15. I wonder if the full-frontal nudity is in the frame with the widescreen ratio?
