The Broncos open camp today and Drew Lock is still unsigned. Lock reportedly thinks he's worth more than his slot since he's a quarterback and deserves a "quarterback premium." He wants more than teammate Dalton Risner, who signed yesterday and was drafted one pick before Lock. When Risner signed his contract yesterday he was reportedly assured by the team that Lock would not receive a richer contract than him. Most likely this will be solved pretty quickly but still an annoyance for a second round pick.

I’m scratching my head about how Houston is trying to label Clowney a LB vs. DE to save a whopping 1.7mil on the franchise tag. Isn’t this a guy they are trying to build around? Is part of that plan to lowball him and piss him off?

I don't think it's Risner as much as his agents. They think they'll look bad if they negotiate a contract that is worth less than the pick after their guy.

I mean, the NYJ took a TON of shit for firing their GM after the draft (a bit too much if you ask me cuz he was far from adequate), but at least they rebounded by hiring arguably the best GM prospect in the league at the time. I just don't get how HOU think they're gonna swing this with a decentralized FO doing the job of one main guy when they don't have any experience doing so.

Cutting is from Air Force and has military service to fulfill. I know President Trump recently issued an order allowing athletes from military academies to play pro sports before they'd fulfilled their service but I don't know if that was retroactive and would allow Cutting to play immediately.

It's this type of stuff that the CBA agreement sought to remove. That being said, it seems like what is holding the contracts up these days is the use of offset language in the contracts versus the money (as it used to be).
