ABOUT PALISADES TARTAN

In May 2008, Palisades Media Asset Fund acquired Tartan Films US library assets. Two months later, Palisades acquired a majority of Tartan Films UK’s 400+ film library assets, bringing the size and magnitude of its library to almost 600 titles and branded their new division Palisades Tartan.


Tartan Films was originally founded in 1984 and is credited with bringing Asian Extreme film to the west as well as some of the most compelling art house films of the last quarter century.

Palisades Tartan will continue to expand an already distinctive and provocative slate of films by focusing on quality film acquisitions, thus significantly increasing the size of their overall library in both territories.

Palisades Pictures and its parent company Palisades Media Corp is a prestigious financier of print & advertising for the independent film market. Together with its affiliate, Palisades Media Asset Fund, Palisades has securitized and financed more than 550 films.

For both quoted above. They only have the rights for the UK and they region lock their UK releases. MCT, Universal/Focus Features has the US rights.

Thirst is being released in Korea (all region) 3/15

Supposedly, a user on here said that director Park was in the U.S. for a screening of the film not too long ago and he stated that he was in the U.S. to work on the Blu-ray release. For the U.K. Hugh K. David who is a forum member and works for Tartan said that he himself had to make the bonus material for the U.K. release.

Well if Thirst doesn't get a US release, it's getting a region-A Korean release in March that you could import.

Has anyone seen this film 36? I'm interested in it....

Hey I'm the user that met Park Chan-Wook at Chapman University. He showed the directors cut of Thirst(not better, just longer) and during his spiel he did indeed say that while he was here he would be working on the US blu-ray. I dunno if that means actually getting his hands dirty or just signing a buncha papers-But that's wot he said.

All the Park Chan Wook films from Palisades-Tartan seem to be out of print on dvd/blu. Anyone knows what's going on? They lose the rights?
