I really want a disney buy one get one free deal again. Starting to get behind again because I have been holding out for one of these. I had an almost complete collection but bought nothing at all this year which has put me behind. No way I was paying $50.00 for two crappy Little Mermaid sequels.

Make no mistake, it's only revenue they care about.
Slipcases, extra discs, GWP's etc all eat in to revenue - and Disney Australia have shown they aren't prepared to jeopardise any of that.

They know people will buy the releases, so the bare minimum effort goes into them.
It's only a fraction of the market who notice how terrible they are.

Disney have now PROVEN to be the WORST Blu-ray distributor in Australia.

From previously releasing 3D + 2D releases, they have now moved to just 3D only, stripped of the 2D extras. NEED FOR SPEED, CARS 2, PLANES and I suspect that Malifecent will fail into the 'we don't care about 3D anymore' category : just pay up if you want it !!

In the case of the MUPPETS MOST WANTED.... no extended version for you.

And bye bye DVD in the Australian versions.....

It's tempting just to grab MONSTERS UNIVERSITY 3D from Amazon @ $26 given how poorly we've been treated here.

Worse.... Disney has now removed extra discs from the Marvel films (will have to get a LA mate to grab me Captain American Winter Soldier in a few weeks time... better than the price we pay here )

I was so pissed off with muppets I really wanted to see the extended version and the whole 3D thing is really annoying

I got it from Amazon for just under $23, and it comes with a nice slip.

I know some people like supporting Australian businesses, but I think it's got to the point where I'd rather save the $15 or whatever and get the far superior version.

Seriously? Just do it, IMO. I feel the problem is local retailers are hypocrites. They price themselves way too high ($40 for the 1-disc Muppets Most Wanted at JB? Give me a break), yet complain when people flock to Amazon. But I bet if myself, and others, ditched Amazon tomorrow and bought 100% locally, prices still wouldn't decrease as they would be enjoying the profits too much. What they should be doing is lowering prices on new releases to try and entice people to shop locally. In this day and age, even $25 is probably too much for the Australian version of Muppets Most Wanted, but it's still way better than $40. And really, don't get me started on how they regularly charge upwards of $48 for their exclusives (Wreck-It Ralph with a limited edition slipcover comes to mind).

Yeah, just do it. I buy local when I can if the difference is only a couple of bucks for convenience. But I went to Amazon for this from day 1 as we're missing the DVD and there's a massive price difference.

Maleficent comes with an old school DTS 5.1 track (1509Kbps). Disney's Australian downward spiral continues...

Just bought Maleficent Bluray I am sorely disappointed, I should have imported and they used an inferior audio on the Australian release, The US is getting 7.1 we only got 5.1.

Indeed. It will be interesting to see what audio the UK release of Maleficent comes with. The German release has English DTS 7.1 HD. I wouldn't have been as upset if we got a 7.1 DTS High resolution track but bloody DTS 5.1. Come on.

Not good enough Disney Australia!!!

I've been reading the past few comments and thought that it must have a DTS-HD 5.1 track but just went into JB and checked the back. WTF Disney?! Shocked to see the local market apparently getting screwed with a DTS 5.1.

Has anyone actually bought it and confirmed its not just a misprint?! Did they really give Aus/NZ a lossy track on a new release?

I saw a post from Suntory_Times the other day confirming it.

Edit: Never mind, I can see the specs were posted 2 minutes before in the previous post.

I also have JB investigating the matter with Disney for me and JB have offered me an exchange as the product is not as described.
