Well hope that Disc Player holds out, and the Computer USB Disc Reader doesn't sound too reliable. Now Ana de Armas I like, I might have to get that Apple App!

The computer usb drive is LGBU40N and it’s fully reliable.

https://a.co/d/auO6Qxb

way did you imagine the usb reader would be unreliable? I use it constantly without any problems.

Hey Brian, what case do you have for your LG?

Have two UHD Blu-ray (Pioneer + ASUS) writers and two Blu-ray (LG + ASUS) writers, all are 5-¼” types. I’m just always interested in what others are using.

Stopped renting when DVD launched, this doesn’t affect me in the slightest. Sad for those that do use it though.

When you said USB Reader I thought it was a Flash Drive that plugs into a USB Port. This Drive is a regular SATA Drive that slides into a Laptop Slot to read Discs. No problem this should work fine.

I wasn’t sure what people call them.

This one I use is that drive in an housing so it’s an external drive.

Archgon Premium Aluminum External USB 3.0 UHD 4K Blu-Ray Writer Super Drive for PC and Mac https://a.co/d/2bSbVZb

It’s been fully reliable and I like it a lot.

External USB Drives are different they rely on the External Connection, not as solid or reliable as Internal SATA Drives. Any External USB Drives have their problems and more Prone to Failure.

Have you lowered you standards yet a another notch? That is only DVD rentals that Redbox wants. You last comment honestly sounds like you need oxygen to allow you brain to function.

BJ's Wholesale Club Fiber internet not as good as I thought.

I have been using AT&T fiber optic internet at my beach house for the past week and sadly find it’s not more reliable than the DSL connection at my primary home. I’ve been evading cable and keeping DSL at home until fiber is offered but seems even fiber isn’t what I hoped it would be.

Yesterday while steaming I got buffering and potato-vision persistently.

Are you deliberately trying to be a ? Don’t you know there are millions of devices that use USB Micro connectors that are plugged and unplugged on a regular basis.

I have a Venus external HDD case with USB (type B) that was used for years as a Sneakernet device. That one is still in service for file backup and more than 20 years old. Have several other external cases* with USB connectors, some been use for many years without issues. A few others are not very old but no USB connection issues.

*Have way too many for listing all but some: OWC MercuryVantec USA NexStarInateck. Several are IDE types and no longer made.

For many years been trying to get users to understand there can be very large differences in speed between them and their ISP and the speed between them and the CDN they are currently accessing. Never got very many to post in this thread (here).

I have never used Netflix disk rental and the last time I rented a film was in the early 90's if I remember correctly and only tried Netflix streaming at my place a couple of times when they had free trials to check out the quality of the streams. I can't see why it would change anything for me.

As for backing up disk players I don't know what that even means. Do you mean getting extra player in case it brakes, I don't see why this would change anything. Do you mean people buying digital copies instead of physical? can't see why that would change, we are talking rentals. Do you mean people making a digital copy of the films they own (maybe because some people might be buying more?) I think people wanting to back-up physical copies are already doing it. Fotr me I already spend a lot on films and don't feel like spending a lot more just to have a digital copy I will most likely never use.

no one wants their devices to brake, but I find that FUD just ridiculous.

I can go out and easily find ~40 years later an 8-track player. https://www.ebay.com/n/error?statuscode=500

do you really think there is a chance that one day someone won't be able to find a UHD BD player (or xbox series x or PS5 that have each sold many millions)

On the other hand my Masters thesis, because of the complex equations and notations, I could not use word and had to used a specialized word processor. The digital copy of my thesis and the SW copy I had are useless the SW is incompatible with newer OSs and the company has not created newer versions since the 90's. Luckily I had/have a physical copy.
