Default Ask questions to Sony Computer Entertainment insider "SCE Insider"

This thread is dedicated to asking questions of industry insider SCE Insider (Sony Computer Entertainment) who has graciously taken the time to participate here. SCE Insider and all our insiders do this out of their free time and to try to keep us informed to their best abilities, and therefore are to be treated with respect and courtesy.

Before asking a question, please skim at least the last weeks worth of posts in order to make sure that the question hasn't already been asked or answered. Using the search function is also always a good idea. Please conduct your inquiries in a professional manner and avoid asking "chicken little" questions or asking when unannounced titles will come out, or if the studios have any plans for those titles.

Ive read that sony will soon be releasing a PSP emulator for the PS3, so when you buy PSP games from the PSN, you can play them on the PS3 as well, just like the PS1 games. Is this a reality? If so, what type of time frame are we looking at, and, will it be upscaled to whatever resolution the PS3 is in so we get it full screen? Thanks.

Thank you so much for taking out your time to join us on the forum.

I would like to know if there is any new information about the progress of home that can be revealed?

Also, if I invite someone to my apartment in Home would they be able to view my blu-ray movie that I am playing? I am sure that it is most likely going to be in 1080p quality, but it would still be nice to do. Thank you again and welcome to the forum.

Hello, and thank you for your time here.

The PS3 kicks ass. It has a lot of fans here.

Now... when will the browser get some firmware love? I don't even own a computer at the moment so the PS3 is my only access to the net at home. Please work on the browser.

Thirded !!!

And also, will it ever be possible to replay a movie where I left it after I turn off my system. It seems to reset the position of the movie to the beginning. I guess I am asking for some sort of memory function or something that most Blu-ray/DVD players have. In fact I have never owned a player which didn't have this basic feature.

Thanks.

I, of course, second the request for an update on DTS-MA decoding on the PS3.
It's a dead horse I beat on frequently and feverishly.

Also, thanks for making the PS3 such a killer Blu-Ray player feature-wise. You guys shame pretty much every other entry level to mid-range Blu-Ray CE out there. Don't let their whining keep you from continuing to make the PS3 the definitive way to experience Blu.

Welcome to the site and thanks for agreeing to participate.

Anyway, my question is this: Is it possible for the PS3 to be updated (firmware update) so that it can output sound to a TV or receiver without having to go to the setup menus to select the audio output?

There are times when I'd like to use the PS3 for gaming or watching a movie without having to turn on the receiver (i.e. want the sound through the TV). While going to the menus to change the audio options won't kill me, it would be a lot more convenient if I didn't have to do that. Or, if cycling the audio output options could be assigned to a key on the remote or controller, that might be good enough.

Could you please try and confirm for me if the 2/11 UK Blu-ray Disc release of Almost Famous is indeed the 162-minute Bootleg Cut version of the film?

This link says it's an "Extended Edition" and has included the cover art, but doesn't list a running length:
http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releas...d-edition.html

This one says it's the theatrical version only, and even goes out of the way to point out that the corresponding release in Japan will be the Bootleg Cut (scroll down to January 1st):
http://www.cameroncrowe.com/news/

This link has it listed as the "Extended Edition" once again, has the cover art, and even has the running time up as 161 mins (approx):
http://www.play.com/DVD/Blu-ray/4-/3.../Product.html#

Lastly, amazon.co.uk lists the release as 122 minutes (which is the theatrical running time):
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Almost-Famou...0945021&sr=8-2

Any definitive word on this? I've got a PM in to PaidGeek and to Greg Mariotti over at cameroncrowe.com and have even started another thread on this question, but I haven't heard back yet from anyone on this.

Since this thread seems to be getting flooded with questions quickly, it will be locked until the SCE Insider is ready to begin answering questions. We don't want to overwhelm him before he has even started
